Yeah, that was Lex in his younger clone body(after he got cancer from the Kryptonite ring I think, although I'm not positive on that). I don't know when they reverted Lex back to his original look. Maybe somebody at DC went to an editor and said, "Hey, Lex Luthor is one of the most recognizable villains in all of comic books. Why does he look like Wookie?"
Random question...can you name any heroes that had like...odd everyday jobs? Not a reporter or a photographer but like...a mailman or a hairdresser or something odd for a comic character?
Hmm, let's see... In the 90's, Nova(Marvel Comics)used his powers to operate as a package delivery service(like UPS), he also worked at a fast food place. Superboy was once the super in an apartment building. I always liked that Captain America(Steve Rogers)was the artist on the Captain America comic book. Green Arrow and Black Canary once owned and operated a flowershop called Sherwood Florist(HA!). Starman(Jack Knight)ran an antiques shop. I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious... Oh well, that's all I can come up with for now.
Hm...I knew about the genius that is Sherwood Florist but the others took me by surprise. And lemme get this straight, WHO thought it was a good idea to make Superboy a Super at an apartment building? He's like 15! And Cap was an artist for his own comic book? That's pretty awesome.
Yeah, the SB thing was right at the VERY end of his series(as a matter of fact, I think current DC EiC Dan Didio was the writer). He was living in the Young Justice base of operations when he decided to get his own place in Metropolis, in Suicide Slum I think. It wasn't great, but at least they were trying to do something different with SB. For the record, I think the building collapsed at the end of SB's series, which was when Supes told SB to move in with the Kents.
Yeah, I always liked the Cap thing. Who could draw Cap better then Cap himself?
Ahh, that makes sense. I just can't see calling up Superboy to fix a clogged toilet or something. The embodiment of Superman and Lex Luthor working as a glorified janitor? Really?
That's genius. So wait, did anyone know that Steve Rogers was Captain America? Because I always believed this was popular knowledge much like Tony Stark being Ironman, but I could be wrong
Nope, nobody knew Cap was Steve Rogers. Cap only revealed his identity relatively recently(like maybe 7 years ago). The Tony Stark identity thing always makes me laugh because it seems that every other writer on his series winds up retconning Tony's identity. Sometimes his ID is public knowledge, other times he's telling everybody that Iron Man is only an employee of Stark Enterprises. Man, the people living in the Marvel U are pretty stupid sometimes...
Say what you want man, I still don't see how the hell no one in Star City realized their damn MAYOR was the Green Arrow. All he covers is his eyes. That may work if you're like Grayson and people don't know who you are but he's the mayor. He's everywhere in the city...how can they not know? the DC Universe is pretty damn dumb sometimes.
Btw...I saw the new Wally Costume..I love it. Like it more than the classic costume actually.
Oh man, don't even get me started on the GA/Oliver Queen thing! The thing about a guy like Nightwing or Spider-Man is that if you unmask them they look like almost anybody else. They have no real easy to identify features, you know, they look plain. Then on the other hand you have GA, who barely covers his face AND has some really easy to identify facial hair! Dude, at least shave! I loved early in Kevin Smith's GA run when Ollie first met Mia and she immediately started to call him Green Arrow, and Ollie was acting like he didn't know what she was talking about. She was like, "You have to be blind AND an idiot to not know Oliver Queen and GA are the same guy!".
Oh yeah? Did you see it in an actual comic or on some site somewhere? I only ask 'cause I'm still waiting for Flash #5 to arrive, so I'm curious to know if Wally is rocking his new look in that comic or if he starts to wear it later on.
Lol really? I need to read that. I never got around to reading Quiver when Ollie returned from the dead, but that alone makes me want to.
I saw it in BN 5 actually, he's already rocking it. So I'd assume it starts in Flash 5, I haven't read it yet though. I like it though, not too different but still stands out.
I have it I've just never gotten around to it which is weird because I like Ollie alot. Maybe I'll read it when I finish my Smallville-athon. Im on season 7 now lol
Yeah, I read the comics that dropped this week but I still got Crisis of Conscience, Flash Rebirth 5, Salvation Run which I finally found, and the Four Horseman issues where Bats, WW & Supes fought those Four Horsemen after 52.
Hey, let me know how those Four Horsemen comics are after you finish them off, they sound like something I may be interested in checking out myself if you say they're worth it.
Oh, hey, don't forget, new Kitchen Nightmare's Wednesday night at 8 pm on BBCAmerica! And further good news on the Ramsay front, I was talking to my sister earlier today and she told me that she heard that Fox is going to be airing new US versions of Kitchen Nightmare's late January! Twice the Ramsay equals twice the AWESOME!
That too, and now I've got my best friend and my girlfriend both watching it as well. So yeah...It's rather Smallvillian in my life right now.
Ahhh Awesomeness!!! I can't wait to see the new US version. And thanks for the reminder, I will be watching HK Wednesday. Definitely gonna put Smallville on pause for that.
Damn, you don't know how much I'm looking forward to watching the new Ramsay. I feel like I've seen every episode of his series like 100 times a piece, so a new episode sounds REALLY good.
I told my girlfriend about the new eps in January as well and those are gonna be great. I can't wait to see that new episode tomorrow though. So are they weekly now?
Yep, they're weekly, which is awesome. My sister e-mailed me a link about Ramsay and the restaurants he tries to help out, maybe you'll want to give it a look, it was pretty interesting. http://www.whatwouldramsaydo.com/ramsays_kitchen_nightmares_forum_uk/where_are_they_now_a_review-t2736.0.html
Man that's pretty sweet. I find that even one place that's still open and not listening to Ramsay's advice is weird. I love the idea of WWRD.com like he's the Jesus of fine dining or something.
Well, not to be sacreligious or anything, but the dude IS probably the Jesus of fine dining! The guy went from a failed soccer player to working his way up from a waiter, to a chef, to an owner of a restaurant, to owning several restaurants all over the world and being worth millions of dollars!
The funny thing about that site was the fact that I could remember practically every episode listed there! The one place that reverted back was the place that was inside the old church I think, with that old fashioned carving station in the dining area. I'm surprised they ignored Ramsay's advice and yet they're still open... Weird.
Only you could take my random rant and make it a valid point. Well played sir, well played. I gotta wonder how you get into the Chef business and don't get stuck working at the same place forever.
Their a church X, not to be sacreligious but God is keeping them afloat or something...lol but nah really I'm shocked. Ramsay is the one dude who's advice I'd never fault from if that was my business.
That's a good question. I know Ramsay has a biography out, if I see it at the mall one day maybe I'll grab it. That would prob be like the only non-comic thing I'd bother to read.
HA! Great point! I guess opening up a restaurant in an old church was a stroke of genius!
Wasn't he supposed to be in a cloned body of the original Lex Luthor at this point? At what point did they revert him to bald Lex?
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was Lex in his younger clone body(after he got cancer from the Kryptonite ring I think, although I'm not positive on that). ReplyDeleteAhh Very nice conversation between Lex and um...Supes' Corpse. I was just about to ask why Lex has hair but I see you guys answered that.
ReplyDeleteTrust me Jason, the less said about Lex's awful 90's look, the better! I don't know WHAT he was thinking.
ReplyDeleteWell it can't be worse than the Super Mullet...Metropolis, home of the bad Hairdo's
ReplyDeleteHa! Yeah, I guess so. What was up with the hairdressers in Metropolis back in the 90's?!?
ReplyDeleteRandom question...can you name any heroes that had like...odd everyday jobs? Not a reporter or a photographer but like...a mailman or a hairdresser or something odd for a comic character?

ReplyDeleteHey, you're almost there! You must have a lot of books backed up thanks to Smallville.

ReplyDeleteAlrighty sir, will do. Should be soon, as I'm officially half way through season 8 of Smallville now. Man I need a life lol.
ReplyDeleteI thought your life was watching Smallville? :)
ReplyDeleteOh, hey, don't forget, new Kitchen Nightmare's Wednesday night at 8 pm on BBCAmerica! Hm...I'd read his biography. I need to read Russell Brand's (the comedian) I picked it up and it's good but I just got busy and never got back to it.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir, chalk another one up for Jason Todd, Commenter Extraordinaire.
