Nightwing #120(July 2006)

You didn't think I'd do a Nightwing week without posting SOMETHING with Jason Todd in it, did you?

  1. I love Jason but this was awful. Having Dick where a Nightwing suit in a fashion show because not wanting to wear it makes him look suspicious? No...you looking EXACTLY LIKE HIM in the suit makes you look suspicious. Jason being punked out then eventually growing big tentacles or something? Man this was awful. The only good part was seeing Cheyenne Freemont in a Nightwing suit.

  2. lol @ J. You've made his day by posting something with Jason Todd. I loove seeing your scans. They always bring back memories of reading some of these comics in the past. And you choose such good scans :D

  4. Jason: Yeah, this storyline was an absolute train wreck! JT has been through a lot of bad angles, but turning into... Whatever the hell he turned into during this storyline was definitely rock bottom!

Falisha: Thanks! You know he was just glad that I posted something with JT in it!

  6. Ha, I knew it! A bad Jason Todd story is better then no Jason Todd at all... Or is it...

  7. Hell You see I read his horrible run in Batman and Robin AND Countdown to Final Crisis so I guess you'd be correct sir!

  8. You know what's real sad? Everytime I read JT is showing up in a series I always get real excited and hope that he'll finally go back to being the awesome bad-ass he used to be, and every time I'm supremely let down!

  9. Hell imagine how I feel. Right now I'd be happy if he took a ten year hiatus if he just came back super bad ass and got the respect he deserves.

  10. Yeah man, I hear ya. That was the #1 thing I was worried about when X-Man came back, that he'd get the Jason Todd treatment. So far so good for me at least!

  11. You lucked out man. So any idea whats on the horizons for X after? Does he get his own series, join a group or whatever?

  12. I honestly don't know. I get the feeling he'll wind up imprisoned by Osborn and his Dark X-Men(Nate's just TOO powerful a character to leave wandering around), but imprisoned is WAY better then dead! If he's imprisoned that means another writer could always use him in the future for something.

  13. So explain to me his return and what's going on with him, because I'm a little confused.

  14. That's not an easy question to answer, but I'll give it my best shot. A few years ago, back in X-Man #75, Nate disappated his molecules and spread them all over the Earth to protect the planet from some sort of weird aliens who wanted to harvest the planet(or something...), which "killed" him. Fast forward to today, and we have a few dazed people wandering around in a trance simply saying "X-Man"(probably like the people who read my blog!)for a while before reverting back to normal. Osborn(who is responsible for the nation's security)figures this is some sort of mutant problem, so he dispatches his Dark X-Men to investigate.

The Dark X-Men investigate and Dark Beast(who is from Nate's home dimension)drugs one of the mesmerized people, which brings Nate out of the guy's head(in a weakened form). Nate spots Mystique(who has taken Jean Grey's appearance to piss off the real X-Men)with Dark Beast and attacks Dark Beast, thinking his mother was in some sort of trouble. Mystique(as Jean)stops Nate from killing Dark Beast and Nate eventually fades away.

The team reports all this back to Osborn, and he orders them to figure out a way to capture Nate, since Osborn figures Nate could power a machine that he built for the Dark X-Men member, Omega. Using a bunch of folks with psionic abilities, the team is able to locate Nate's energy on the astral plane, but Nate uses the psionic folks to discover what had happened in the Marvel Universe during his absence, as well as using them as a bridge to return to the regular world.

Whew... That's pretty much where things are as of the last issue of the Dark X-Men mini. I bet this explanation leaves you more confused then before!

  15. Okay...that's awesome. You just convinced me to pick that up wednesday...What is it a 6 part mini? And how many issues are out so far?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow, I convinced you to read that mini with that long-winded, rambling explanation?!? Awesome! I think it's a 5 part mini(could be 6 though)and 3 parts are already out(I haven't ordered that third part yet though).
