A slight change of plans...

As I'm sure anybody who has been to this blog recently may have noticed, there has been a severe lack of pictures on a blog that claims to provide just that! The reason for this lack of new material is pretty much due to laziness on my behalf. Well, laziness along with the fact that this blog has never really had any form or structure, which made it kind of tough to upkeep. However, those days of sloth and disorganization are over! From this point forward(or at least until I get tired of this blog again!)I plan on starting a weekly comic book theme. That way I can just scan 7 related comics at once and post one pic a night. That should keep me interested in keeping this blog going for the time being. So, starting tomorrow night, get ready for 7 days worth of... Nightwing! Why Nightwing? Well, number one, I have A LOT of Nightwing comics, and number two, I'm a big fan of the original Robin, so he seemed like the perfect character to relaunch this blog with. That's it for now, thanks for sticking around, and Long Live The Legion!

  1. Woooooooooo Nightwing to kick off the week. Does that mean 2010 is the Year of Grayson? I'd be fine with that. Looking forward to see what pics you're gonna post, just please none with him moonlighting as The Target.

  2. Well, the first week of 2010 is the Year of Grayson! Lucky for you, the 7 Nightwing comics I pulled out didn't include the Target! Of course that could always change!!! BWA-HAHAHAHAH!!!

  3. The Target nooooo!! No Target, No Tarantula...Maybe some Red Suit Nightwing would be fine lol.

  4. Hey, you're in luck, one of the comics I pulled out actually has red suit Nightwing!

  5. Sweetness...I loved the name Rose came up with him, Deathwing. Something about that seems so cool.

  6. You know, you're right. Deathwing should really be the name of a villain in the DCU. That's a really great name.

  7. Apparently there IS a Deathwing in an alternate universe in DC. It's a long read but check this out.

Introduced as an alternate Dick Grayson from a timeline when his Titan teammate, Donna Troy, had a son who was driven mad, took on the mantle of Lord Chaos and conquered his world. This version of Dick stayed in his identity of Nightwing and helped train squadrons of superpowered teenagers that became known as the Team Titans. He was involved with the much younger Titan, Mirage, during this time. This alternate-future Nightwing came back in time and briefly joins the Team Titans when their mission takes them to their past, our present. This version of Nightwing, attacked and corrupted by a dark version of Raven shortly after his arrival, changes his name to Deathwing, and serves as her assistant. He becomes so twistedly evil, he at one point tracks down his one time lover, Mirage, and rapes her. She becomes pregnant and has a child named Julienne

During the Zero Hour event that retroactively erased this timeline, Mirage, Terra and Deathwing survive. It is later established that they are from the current time-line, and were shunted through time and given false memories by the Time Trapper, who wished to use them as sleeper agents against the time travel villain, Extant.

It wasn't revealed until one of the later runs of the Teen Titans that this was not Dick Grayson, in fact his true identity was never uncovered. After this storyline, this version of Nightwing has not been seen since. Whether this version existed at all, after the events of Infinite Crisis or would later to be revealed to be an alternate Dick, Jason, or Tim, is unknown.

  8. Oh damn, I remember that guy now!!! He popped up in a few of the HORRIBLE New Teen Titans around issues #90-110 or so. I've got to dig those books out and give them a quick look through. Normally I'd say a quick read through, but those NTT are just plain BRUTAL! That's the ONLY CB series I've ever brought that I couldn't bring myself to finish. They were just mind numbingly bad.

  9. Damn really? I've never even heard of them...what was so bad about them?

  10. The writing was like fingernails across a chalkboard bad... For one, the single most annoying character in possibly the entire DCU, Danny Chase was there... Jeez, just typing that name kind of pisses me off! He was this uber-smart 12 year old kid who was just a complete jackass! There was NOTHING redeeming at all about him. Who the hell wants to read about this super-smart, smart-ass kid who's always telling off his teammates? I remember when he told Dick that Jason Todd had died. He did it in such an asshole way that I was nearly tearing the comic book in half! UGH!!!

Besdies Danny, the writing was just atrocious... It was nearly impossible to tell who was a hero and who was a villain from issue to issue! Raven, Jericho, Deathstroke, Starfire, Beast Boy, practically EVERY character moved from hero to villain with little rhyme or reason... It's like the writer woke up and said, "Hey, I'll make Beast Boy evil now!" with little reason. It was just a train wreck of massive proportions.

  11. Wait...so there's this smart ass kid who's literally a smart ass? This dude sounds annoying. Was he worse than Damian? And how exactly did Dick find out? I never even considered that...

I can see Raven, Jericho, Deathstroke, even a pissed off Starfire but how in the hell do you write Beast Boy as a villain?

  12. Yep, Danny Chase was EVEN MORE annoying then Damian!!! Just let the gravity of those words sink in for a moment... Even more annoying then Damian! That's how awful he was.

I just dug out the issue where Dick discovers the grim news, New Teen Titans(or The New Titans as it was called at the time)#55. Dick and the Titans return from a mission pretty banged up, and Danny walks over and he's like, "Hey, I've got something to tell you, but it's not a big deal. Jason Todd is dead." So Dick taps into the Bat-computers from the Titans headquarters and Danny is like, "See, it's no big deal. Anyway, he knew the job was dangerous when he took it." I mean, come on! JT was like a little brother to Dick and that kid is like, "It's no biggie." Damn do I hate him!

Beast Boy was under evil Raven's thrall or something like that. By the time BB became evil I was only skimming the comics, because I was so tired of the same storyline happening over and over again. Most of the time characters would just suddenly flip sides for no reason at all! My favorite was Jericho... He was a Titan FOREVER, when the team was being attacked by some unknown foe who knew all of the Titans identities and stuff. So this unknown foe and his henchmen capture the entire team(including Jericho)and seperate them into groups. Towards the story's climax, we learn that the mystery foe is Jericho, and that he can suddenly talk! The best was that he could talk... I don't remember, but I don't think it was ever explained how Jericho could talk even though he had his throat slashed...

  13. Wow...that kid is a huge d-bag. God that sounds so annoying. It's no big deal...I hope that kid ended up getting killed off or something.

So Jericho orchestrated his own kidnapping and the attack on The Titans and had time to fix his vocal cords? Man that is one busy hero/villain. That dude switches sides more than Venom.

  14. Yep, Danny was killed off... Twice! The writer obviously loved the character, but the fans flat out HATED him(the letter pages were hilarious to read!), so the writer "killed" him off, and then repackaged him as a mystery hero named Phantasm or something. Once he revealed Danny was Phantasm, the fans freaked out again, and Danny was finally and definitively killed off.

Exactly! And the best thing was the vocal cord thing was just overlooked. It was like, "Hey look, Jericho is EVIL now... Oh, and for some reason he can talk... But he's EVIL!!!" That was the first time Jericho turned, setting the stage for his MANY subsequent turns.

  15. Lmao I think I recall reading about that Danny kid in a issue where they discussed Fallen Titans. Did he get a statue and Jason didn't? Because that may have been it.

Jericho is the Kane of DC. Heel turn,Face Turn, Heel Turn, Face Turn! I hate how they do Jericho like that, hopefully he stays one way for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yep, and then you wonder why JT was so pissed off when he visited Titans Tower that time! That nasty punk got a statue, and JT didn't even get a frigging plaque!

"Jericho is the Kane of DC." HA!!!!!! That is perfect! It's the truth too! For both guys, one day they're a face, then, all of a sudden, with no explanation, wham, they're on the dark side again!

  17. I don't blame him. They even gave Terra a damn statue but know Jason Todd statue? That guy gets no respect.

Lol right? I'd say Jericho gets worse treatment than Jason does sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ha, great point! I mean come on, Terra frigging betrayed the team and SHE gets a statue?!? If I was Jason I'd be uber-pissed too!

I don't know about that! Jason might have the record for worst treatment EVER!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah no wonder he's so upset. Terra AND Jericho have betrayed them. And Danny Chase is a tool...the only people who deserved statues in recent memory are SB, Bart and Donna and their all back.

Beat with a crowbar, blown up, made the villain, arrested twice, shot in the leg...apparently has red hair. That's all off the top of my head. Yeah Jason's life truly sucks.

  20. There are a few other Titans I'd give statues to, but I def wouldn't give one to Terra! I mean, come on, she betrayed the team AND their identities to Deathstroke! How does SHE score a statue, but not Jason? That's a crime!

"Yeah Jason's life truly sucks." Dude, that says it all!

  21. Who else would you give statues to? Hawk and Dove have them right?
