Nightwing #14(Nov. 1997)

What better way to start Nightwing week off then by posting two pages of Dick admonishing Bruce? I don't know what I like more about this scene, the fact that Dick actually tells Bruce off for a change, or Bruce's meek reaction to it!

  1. Did you post this scene over at the Comic Blog before? I feel like I saw it there too. Either way awesome scene showing how alike yet different those two are. Wonder how Bruce will feel about Dick's job as Batman when he returns.

  2. BRUCE IS DEAD! lol. Nah jk. I don't know what to think about Bruce's "death". But I do like the fact that Mr. Grayson stood up to Bruce. Something I don't think he expected. Can't wait for the next set of scans.

  3. Jason: Yeah, I did, but when I randomly pulled out the 7 Nightwing books I was planning on scanning from, this issue was one of them... Go figure. Out of over 150 Nightwing comics, I wind up pulling out a double. At least the scene was pretty cool though.

Falisha Ann: Wait, what? Bruce is dead?!?
;-) I love the weak way Bruce responds to Dick's rant. He's like, "Oh, OK..." I mean, where's the fire!

  4. Lol I agree, He did kinda lay down...maybe he was proud of Dick?

  5. He was!!!! Grayson has stepped up to him and I feel Bruce has even more respect for him. :D

  6. Yeah, I've got to agree with you two here. Deep down Bruce had to be proud of the fact that Dick was doing his own thing, and had the guts to tell Bruce exactly that. Of course Dick wimps out and calls the Batcave later on in this issue to apologize, but at least for a little while he stood up to the big, bad Batman.

  7. Lol he apologized? Really? That's so Grayson...I don't think anyone in the DC Universe has anything bad to say about him.

  8. Yeah, after he gave Bats the business, he brooded for a while, and then called up the Cave to apologize. He wound up speaking to Alfred, but Alfred told Bruce, and Bruce showed up later as Matches Malone so the two could talk... That is definitely such a Grayson thing to do...

  9. Just from curiosity why'd he show up as Matches, so Batman wouldn't make an appearance in Bludhaven?

  10. Hmm, I don't know. He met Dick at a bar, so maybe he didn't want to show up as Bruce Wayne for some reason... Although Bruce Wayne is Dick's adopted father, so I don't know why the two couldn't be seen together... Huh, I can't figure that one out. Maybe the artist just really wanted to draw Matches?

  11. Lol @ the artist really wanting to draw matches. That's such a horrible reason. "I've drawn Nightwing, Batman and some awesome characters but Matches Malone is the be all END all of comic book characters!

  12. HA!!! That last line def got a chuckle out of me! Hey you never know though! If I were ever to become a CB writer, I'd fill my comics with a TON of c-list heroes that nobody but me and like 17 other comic geeks have ever heard of. Maybe the artist is THE world's biggest Matches fan!

  13. Just out of my Juggernaut sized curiosity, who would some of these said characters be?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, for one, Juggernaut would be there! Umm, Darkhawk, Quasar, X-Man(of course), any of the New Warriors, Fantomex, and Sleepwalker from Marvel, and Tempest, Inertia, Torque, Wildcat 2 and Ray would be a few from the DCU. I do love my obscure, c-list characters!

  15. Good point, Do you think an artist could sneak an X-Man look alike in the background of a DC Comic if they didn't call any attention to him or whatever?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh yeah, sure. I'm sure it's happened before. I mean the artists have to get those background characters from some source, right?

  17. True, I'm sure if I were an artist I'd throw myself back there and people I know or whatever.
