You've never read this series JT?! Bollocks!!! Judd Winick wrote almost the entire thing, and it had Nightwing AND Roy in it! Plus the enemies included Lex, Joker AND Deathstroke!
Okay, quick summary time: After the events of Young Justice/Titans: Graduation Day, the Titans and YJ pretty much disbanded, mainly because Nightwing didn't want to see any more teammates he cared about die. So Arsenal comes up with an idea which is that him and Nightwing put together a team but keep things strictly professional, and don't grow attached to their teammates. After lots of arm twisting, Nightwing agrees, and the two assemble this version of the Outsiders. Judd Winick wrote pretty much the entire series(which ran 50 issues)and for the most part it was a really good read.
Yup, Starfire did indeed join, because naturally things didn't stay purely professional. I mean hell, the fact that Roy AND Dick were on the team together and they're practically best friends should have shown them that the team wouldn't be a bunch of heroes getting together, fighting villains and leaving. Of course bonds between team members were going to form. But that was the original idea, just a bunch of heroes with no real ties getting together and fighting the good fight.
Yeah I could see when you said it that the odds of them staying professional wouldn't work. I do wanna pick up the trades now because you've got me interested but in all reality maybe I should finish my Birds of Prey and everything else first haha.
Captain Picard! Genius!!! I need to read this series...

ReplyDeleteSo THEY created the Outsiders? And didn't Starfire join? Which is like the opposite of keeping it professional....
