Well, I DID promise Christmas themed pics, didn't I?

  1. This definitely just made my Christmas. God bless us Everyone. Also Joker looks scary as hell...what evil man has Green eyes? Besides um Lex...

  2. Well I'm glad I was able to enhance your Christmas, even if it was thanks to something as simple as a pic of the Joker.

I loved how bloodshot Joker's eyes looked in this issue. It gave him an even more crazed sort of look.

  3. Yeah, I remember in a trade called The Bat and The Cat with Barbara as Batgirl and Catwoman Babs got locked in Arkham and they had Joker in a high security room with only his eyes and he looked so insane dude. That immediately reminded me of that. Plus you reminded me how much I liked this story, I may reread it before Christmas now.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ha, yeah when I pulled this one out to scan, I actually wound up rereading the entire comic too! It made me really miss Tim as Robin though!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Once Bruce comes back where do you think Tim goes from there? Does he try to redeem the Red Robin suit?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, I think Tim is going to be stuck in the Red Robin suit from now on. I can't see him going back to being Robin, and since he just became RR, I don't think DC would repackage him again. I still think he should have taken up the Nightwing name/costume, but I guess that ain't gonna be happening anytime soon.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yeah, well I'm hoping CK...well since there's three CK's I'll say Chris to move on and Dick regains his Nightwing name, and Tim keeps the Red Robin name, and Jason is just Jason Todd...well..I don't see how if they arrest Jason it doesn't raise questions about Bruce taking him in years earlier...

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'd even be cool with there being 2 nightwings. There are like 3 Flashes, and 100's of Green Lanterns, so I have no prob with two Nightwings.

That's the first thing I thought after reading the last issue of B&R. How can Dick allow the GCP to arrest Jason? What if they run his prints? I know Jason was a street kid early on in his life, so it would make sense that he was prob picked up by the law and fingerprinted at some point. The only thing I can think is that Oracle wiped all of Jason's records out after he died.

Since Bruce is such a public figure though, I'm sure Jason's death was reported in all of the Gotham papers, so if somebody were to put 2 and 2 together about Jason, they could prob also figure out Batman's secrets as well.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lol I honestly didn't think about the fact there's so many people sharing names. Well when you put it that way I'm down.

Well Jason doesn't have prints. I recall reading that Bruce, Dick, and Tim don't have any finger prints filed or they just plain don't have them men in black style. Either way I'm sure Jason doesn't either and if he had prints on record I'm sure when Bruce made him Robin he destroyed them because he's not that careless.

Exactly so how the hell do they even allow him to get arrested. And where would they send Jason? Blackgate?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, I kind of figured the same thing when it came to the fingerprints. If not Bruce, then I'm sure Oracle took care of that.

I honestly don't know why Dick allowed Jason to get arrested. You'd think they would've locked him in Wayne Tower like they did with Hush... Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  11. We see how well that worked out lol. Honestly I think locking Jason up around all those Waynetech goodies would work out, But I agree I'm kinda shocked Dick allowed Jason to get arrested as well, you'd think that would lead to either an immediate break out or trouble down the road right?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah man, Jason was trained by the Bat himself, I tend to doubt a common Gotham prison is going to be able to hold him for long...

The only reason I can think of as for why Dick allowed Jason to get busted is because he didn't want to fight Gordon over taking Jason into custody. Once Gordon and all of his cops showed up, what choice did Dick really have but to allow Jason to go with him?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Remember that time B-Man was in um....I wanna say Blackgate as Matches Malone in Gotham Underground and he broke out?

Good point, it would've looked really funny if he tried to fight them about it. If someone was smart they'd have Hush as Bruce pay his bail or get him out somehow, because that makes Bruce look bad and suspicious like he wants.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Nah, I don't remeber that, but I could very easily see that happening.

See, that's the thing. Most likely Jason wouldn't even give the cops his real name, and since his prints, etc are prob nonexistant, he'd just sit in jail as a John Doe. Since Jason died at like 14,15 yrs old and now he's in his early 20's, I doubt anybody would make any kind of connection. I doubt Jason wants to out Bruce, if he did, he'd prob have done it already.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, I love how he can be admitted to prison with a disguise on and they STILL don't know it's Bruce Wayne.

Yeah, plus that issue showed he misses Bruce more than anything else. Hm...I like the idea of Jason just sitting in a cell biding his time until he makes a big awesome escape.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ha, that is so true! Damn does Gotham have some lousy prisons!

Maybe Jason will stay in jail until Bruce makes his return, and then break out and ask for forgiveness!!! Then we'll finally get the end of the go-no-where villainous Jason Todd!

    ReplyDelete
  17. That'd make me eternally happy, because this red haired Villainized Jason Todd is VERY VERY VERY annoying and he has such a rich background, he should be a great character to read about. Just keep him away from Morrison and Yost!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah, I totally agree, the evil, red-haired Jason Todd really needs to go... Anything would be better then his current characterization. Anything.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The only way he could get worse is if he became WHiny like Super Boy Prime but not funny and likable, just annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  20. True! That would suck big time. Prime can get away with being annoying and whiny because let's face it, practically nobody can beat him. If Jason did it it would just come across as lame and sad.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Someone sent me the following...what are your comments?

By the way read your blog regarding Todd, fancy reading! Care to elobrate your thoughts on Morrison's job on Jason abit more? I personally loved how he took a more hero costume, twittered on his updates on crime fightning and actually made phone polls. Gotta love Morrison for that!

PS. I guess you don't want Jason to be a full villain, eh? I liked the idea of Jason becoming the satan Batman for Dr. Hurt now that Hurt can't defeat Bruce, but he can destroy his legacy by corrupting the Robins. >: ) I also had the idea of someday maybe Jason Todd could get a rehab on his violence and join Batman's black ops team, the Outsiders.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wait, somebody actually sent that to you? Really!?! Huh... It kind of proves something I've always known, there are two types of people in this world, those who think Grant Morrison is completely insane(me), and those who think he's a complete comic book genius, and the greatest thing since sliced bread(that guy!).

At least it wasn't insulting like some of the posts I've gotten from pissed off fanboys! You gotta let me know what your thoughts on that interesting comment were!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lol yeah, I knew him from the Arkham boards, he's a fan they made into a Moderator for some odd reason...but yeah that dude friggin loves Grant Morrison. I bet he's a big Yost and bendis fan too! Lol

The only thing I liked was the phone poll was an inside joke to him being killed off by a phone poll but that's pretty much it. I still hated that Jason was The Red Hood again like...the first time it's a surprise but the second time it just seemed like overkill. Jason joining the Outsiders....That's not a bad idea except the Outsiders currently suck with the exception of Geo-Force and both of those guys are leaders so who'd lead?

What insulting posts have you gotten from pissed off fanboys?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah, somebody must like guys like Yost and BENDIS... The world is a tstrange place my friend!

See, I missed out on the phone poll thing because of my still missing comic order! I kind of like the idea of JT on the Outsiders as well... 'd def have Geo-Force leading the squad, but you could have JT there always saying things like, "You know, when I was Robin we'd do things this way" or constantly questioning Geo's authority. That actually sounds pretty sweet...

Oh man, the X-fans are the frigging worst!!! If you write ANYTHING negative about one of the x-titles(Astonishing, Uncanny or X-Men Legacy)get ready for holy hell to break loose! I've heard it all, but one of my all-time favorites was from this dude who wouldn't stop defending a particularly bad issue of X-Men Legacy... He insulted my writing, what I thought about the comic, my opinion, everything! The funniest thing about it was the fact that his name was "Mike", which coincidentally is the same first name as Legacy's writer. I was like, this dude MUST be the comic book writer, because why else would he be SO pissed about my opinion!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah I'd like that, I just hate the fact that the rest of the Outsiders are nobodies, I mean Creeper is kinda...yeah, and Black Lightning and Geo-Force are cool, but if Jason did join I would read the issues. And I could see him making Snarky comments I just wouldn't want him to become all Damian like.

Lol we joke about me being Geoff Johns but that dude was really the writer, why else would he be so pissed...better hope he never writes an issue with X-Man in it lol.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, I know DC is really going to try to push the Outsiders now, so maybe the team will become something big. I think Supes is going to join, you'd think that's gotta help.

Yeah man, I thought the same thing about X-Man! If he did though, I prob wouldn't read it. It's such a struggle to read the x-books nowadays, with how sucky everything is in the world of mutants...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wait....Superman is gonna join The OUTSIDERS?! Where'd you hear this?

Poor Mutants, so right now would you say DC is better than Marvel in terms of comics?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jeez, I'm not sure where I read it, but I swear I remember seeing somewhere that Geo-Force is going to allow Kryptonians into Markovia, which leads to Supes joining up. They've had a few teasers in some DC books where they show Geo-Force and somebody wearing the "S" in shadows.

Oh HELL YES!!!! My heart will always be with Marvel, I grew up exclusively reading Marvel books, but for the past 2 years, I've got to admit, I definitely prefer DC to Marvel. Overall the DC books I read are just more satisfying then the Marvel ones. Maybe I have higher standards for the Marvel books, but yeah, right now there's no doubt in my mind about which company I like more.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think I vaguely remember seeing a teaser pic with that...That's awesome, I know I'll read if Supes joins The Outsiders.

I agree, I grew up as a Marvel fan, not so much comics but just being a die hard Spidey fan and X-Men and such due to their shows but in terms of comics I've read since I started back DC is eclipsing Marvel in my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, I'll def be picking up the next issue of the Outsiders, so if you decide not to, I'll let ya know if he shows up, or if it's all just a big swerve.

Yeah, I've been collecting Marvel comics for 18 years(!!!)on and off, and DC books for only a year and a half, but DC is heads and shoulders better right now. Marvel could easily fix that by doing a few simple things(fix Spidey, bring back the original Avengers, and bring back the mutants/put them back in X-Mansion), but they seem intent on doing whatever they can to piss me off...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sweet, well I'll be looking forward to your eventual review of that and hopefully the debut of Big blue.

Yeah, they've gone way off base, it's like they wanna undo everything they've already established for some reason. And really, 18 years?! I was literally one year old when you started lol.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah man, 18 years... I can still remember the day I brought my first comic(X-Men #1 BTW).

"I was literally one year old when you started lol." Jeez, way to make me feel old! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can't even imagine how much that'd probably worth now. Didn't you give your brother all your older comics?

Lol my bad :P It means you're experienced in the ways of the world.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nah, I gave my bro all of my older Spider-Man comics... I should actually ask if he wants to give 'em back to me since he's not reading any comics any more. Pfft, X-Men #1 is worth like the EXACT price it was when it came out! Marvel produced SO many of that comic that like every comic collector in the free world has three copies! You didn't think I meant Uncanny X-Men #1, did you? :-)

"It means you're experienced in the ways of the world." And old!!! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lol nah, I just figure issue one is worth money regardless as long as it hasn't came out in the last five years. Why is Uncanny X-Men #1 worth a ton?

Lol Nah, if you were old than um...your PS3 would be an Atari and you still wouldn't know how to use it. HA!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Being a bit of a comic book historian, I could tell you all about X-Men #1, and how it has sort of responsible for Marvel's bankruptcy troubles in the 1990's, but since I don't want to bore you to tears, I digress.

Dude, Uncanny #1 came out in 1963, and was the first appearance of the 5 original X-Men, Prof. X AND Magneto! That comic is easily worth somewhere around $30,000-$60,000! If I ever hit the lottery, that's the first thing I'd buy!

Hmm, good point! Now I feel a little less older! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Nah, It won't bore me at all, I never even knew Marvel had bankruptcy troubles, please continue.

Ouch...See if I had a time machine I'd go back and grab that and Action Comics One. Hell I'd get like ten of each and live like a KING!

Lol glad I could help X-Man The Great.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow, really? If not for the first Spider-Man movie, who knows, maybe we wouldn't even be having this conversation, because there's a real chance Marvel could have folded in the mid-late 90's, and I wouldn't have ever started reading Marvel books again.

It all began in the early 90's, with Spider-Man #1 by Todd Mcfarlane(the Spawn dude). That comic sold like CRAZY. It was mainly picked up by comic book speculators(who only brought comics in order to resell them down the road when they were worth tons of money, like Uncanny #1). Marvel thought, wow, people must love buying #1 issues, so they released X-Force #1 and X-Men #1 in quick succession. The problem was that all Marvel cared about was selling as many of these books as possible, so they printed CRAZY numbers of these series. Since there were SO many of these comics available, they obviously will never become collectors items, and as such, they'll never be worth jack. That's why a comic like Uncanny #1 or Action #1 is worth so much money, because they're rare finds. Since Marvel was selling insane amounts of these #1 issues(thanks to the speculators)they kept pushing out new #1 issues, as well as "special" issues with holographic covers and stuff. Eventually the speculators realized that the comics they had brought were practically worthless because everybody had a copy, so they stopped buying Marvel's special comics. Marvel, being greedy, kept printing their books in really high numbers, but without the speculators there to buy them up, they were losing money like crazy; think of it like this, you can't make money by printing say 1,000,000 comics, but only selling 50,000 of them. On top of that, Marvel was being run by some scumbag Wall Street type who was only interested in making money, and could care less about producing good comics, which led to many of the really talented writers/artists back in the day to leave Marvel for greener pastures. I could keep going, but that's the gist of it. DC was also pulled into this mess, because when the speculators were buying up Marvel Comics in great numbers, they were also buying special DC books as well, which is why DC "killed" Supes in the 90's and broke Bruce, because they knew the speculators would buy insane amounts of those issues, but once again, with so many of those books available, they won't ever really go up in price. Trust me, I could keep going(I've always been facinated with the way the comic book industry works), but I'll leave it at that.

If I had a time machine, I'd go back in time and play the stock market man! I'd buy all of Microsoft's stock once they went public! Plus I could bet mad money on sports events since I know the outcome! It's for that reason(and many others)Rip Hunter would never ask me to help him fix time. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow that's a hell of alot of information, I can't believe I didn't know it. So due to Marvel being greedy and mass producing stuff until it became worthless they almost went outta business. That's crazy. And it also spawned DC's death of Superman and Bane breaking Bat's back...which sadly resulting in neither Doomsday and Bane doing nothing notable since...

Lol I gotta say we're in the same boat, I'd go back and patent stupid things everyone bought like George Foreman grills and definitely buy a bunch of stock like you mentioned. If you went back in time 20 years with a Blu-Ray an Ipod and a laptop you could rule the world dude.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, greed kills, and it sure almost killed Marvel. If you're going to print 100,000 comics, you damn sure better be sure you're going to sell most of them, or else you're screwed! That's why a comic like Marvel Zombies #1(which I own!)which came out in 2006 is worth as much as $60 already, while X-Men #1, which came out in 1991 is the same as it's cover price, if not less. Marvel Zombies #1 was released in a small number because Marvel didn't expect it to sell well, and since the quantity is small, that issue is in high demand among collectors.

Poor George Forman! You'd have the Jason Todd Grill in a store window and Big George would walk by thinking, "Huh, that's a really good idea!". Of course I'd go back in time with all of these awesome futuristic gadgets, and the government would probably lock me in some little unknown prison somewhere demanding to know where I got these awesome items from!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hm...I need to buy something that I know won't sell alot. Who's comics suck so I'm sure they won't sell...Yost?

Lol well He's got money from boxing...besides when you aren't creative enough to name your seven sons different names and name them all George you don't deserve such a genius invention. Good point they'd think you were a spy or something. Damn their scared of change.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Honestly, i sympathise, I 'm one of the few fans that loves 90's x-men & will always take Nicieza Lobdell , louise Simonson or peter David over guys like Claremont or morrison any day. I actually want to see the potential behind 90's characters & see them developped instead of shunned because they can bring fresh concept to the table. but don't worry whenever I disagree, I never insult the fellow fan but just the issue at hand.
Stil this issue should be called how to write the Joker! It is just perfect & gave me what Morrison couldn't, entertainment!

    Saidi

PS cassandra nova sucked, no honestly a fetus came from the sewers to destroy Genosha? the x-men make jokes about victims whom bodies were not even dry? SUCK MY BALLS! WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD COMICS SCRIPT! WHO?
