Flash #101(May 1995)

Reason #547 as to why Impulse was awesome.

  1. I don't know which is worse, the fact that I have no idea who Jesse Quick is, the fact that I've never read anything with Bart Allen besides Young Justice, or the fact that Wally is currently doomed to obscurity.

  2. Hmm, I think I'd say the worst thing is the fact that you don't know who Jesse is, because that means you've never read the awesome JSA series.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I have not...which means I need some recommendations that won't make me go broke from buying comics.

    ReplyDelete
  4. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a huge fan of Geoff Johns, and his last JSA run was really some inspired writing. I think he wrote issues #1-26(or so), and there were some great stories in there, including the awesome "Kingdom Come" follow-up.

  5. I've never been a big fan of the JSA, I don't know why, but outside of Wildcat, Powergirl and Hawkman no one really connected with me, but I'll checkout the first few issues to see if I can get into it, plus im also a big Geoff Johns fan as well so that should help.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think the good thing about the JSA is that there are so many characters you're bound to connect with one of 'em. Yeah, if you can get into the first few issues, you'll be in for a treat, especially during the AWESOME Gog storyline.

  7. Deep down, I always hated the Hermes like Helmet that the JSA's Flash wears. I respect him now but when I was younger I always hated it and wondered how a dude that old can be so friggin fast. Yeah I know its dumb lol, but thats how i felt for the longest.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh come on, I love the hat! :)

Yeah, when I first got into DC, I never really understood why Jay was even around. He was called the Flash, but he didn't dress like the other Flashes, he wore that goofy hat and he was OLD! After reading the JSA comics though, like you, I def respect Jay(and the hat!).

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lol the Hat looks so...I don't even know. I just hated it, after reading The Fastest Man Alive I gained even more respect for him, and Bart, I'd say Bart may be my favorite Flash now..he's neck and neck with Wally.

    ReplyDelete
  10. My favorite thing is when Jay uses the hat as an offensive weapon. It's like he's wearing Captain America's shield on his head!

Fastest Man Alive was definitely better then I thought it would be. It sucked that Bart wasn't given more time to run(heh heh)with the Flash moniker. Bart always has been and probably always will be my favorite Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I also gotta admit to marking out when he used the hat as a weapon. And when Griffin (Possible Black Lantern?) electrocuted him I remember thinking "This old dude is so buff, he looks like Triple H or something."

Firstly, I will give you props on that run pun because It actually made me laugh, and yeah I agree, it was really short for a series but very well done, if anything I'm glad it didnt get the chance to potentially go down hill.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah, I guess there's something to be said about going out on top, still... The fact that you laughed at that pun makes me sad for you Jason, it was horrible!!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Im just glad Bart is back, I cant see how you went two years without him, I was sad when I read it and I already knew he was coming back. And yeah that pun was hilarious, then again it was 1 am my time when I read that, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I actually didn't go two year without him, when I first started reading DC comics, he was already dead. I became a huge fan of Bart's postmortem. After reading the Young Justice series a year and a half ago(which was the first DC comics I ever read), I was interested enough in Bart to pick up the full Impulse run off of eBay. After that I picked up the full Teen Titans run. To be honest, I almost didn't want to buy the Fastest Man Alive trades because I didn't want to see Bart bite the bullet. Yeah, it's stupid, but still.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ahh, I should've remembered that, you said that you just started with DC a year and a half ago. I don't blame you for that though, I know if there was a comic where Dick died I wouldn't read it. Well apart from me hating the Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns (mainly due to the art, but some of the story I hated) I won;t read the second one because I know Dick is the main villain.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, even though I wouldn't want to read the comic, I'd def wind up reading it anyway. Take my all time fav character, X-Man(Nate Grey). The X-Man series lasted 75 issues, and I knew Nate wound up dying(or something similar)in issue #75. As I got closer to the end of the series, I began to read the issues slower and less frequently, mainly because I didn't want to reach the inevitable end. However, in a weird way I almost felt as if it was my duty to read that final issue. As a fan of the character I wouldn't have felt right NOT reading it.

Whoa, really? I had no clue Dick was in the Dark Knight Returns... That's one of those trades that have been laying around unread for months. Now I'm kind of curious as to how bad a car wreck that comic is going to be!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I know what you mean, I kinda wanted to put off Flash because I knew Bart died and I was becoming attached to his character. And I don't know alot about the Legion but I couldn't stop until I read Bart's return, It ws all worth it just to see Prime turn the corner and Bart say Boo. Man that was awesome.

Damn. I'm sorry bro, I so assumed ya read it, otherwise I would've never mentioned it. I swear I started not to, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No sweat, by the time I finally get around to reading that trade(prob in like 3 years!)I'll have forgotten what you said anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Lol sweet. I don't see how you keep track of everything, what you've read and haven't, where you keep them, and especially with new comics you get. Sounds confusing.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wait, I did read Dark Knight Returns, it was Dark Knight Strikes Again I haven't read yet. Are you sure Dick was in DKR? I honestly don't remember him being in that.

Yeah, my system of comic book storage can best be described as organized chaos. I'd say 85% of the time I can find exactly what I'm looking for, no matter how obscure the comic is, but there are some times when I honestly can't figure out what I've done with certain issues... That drives me insane!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well allow me to quote myself:

"Well apart from me hating the Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns (mainly due to the art, but some of the story I hated) I won;t read the second one because I know Dick is the main villain."

So yeah, I couldn't remember the name of the second one, but you're right its The Dark Knight Strikes Again.

You must have very good memory to remember all of that, 85% is a hell of alot when it comes to how many comics you have.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, it's crazy, I have 22 crates of comics, 17 cardboard boxes, a bookcase for trades, 9 piles of comics I've read but haven't boxed and 19 piles of unread stuff laying around, and I could easily tell you exactly where Birds of Prey #91 or Maverick #3 is! It's usually the new books I have the most trouble finding, I try to keep all the ongoing series I collect together, but that doesn't always happen...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wow, I'd have a field day just reading your comics, I know your friends are either always reading them or afraid to touch em or they think they'll mess something up Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I've always been really good about lending out my books, as long as whoever has them returns them in the condition they got them!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm the same way, and with DVD's but If someone screws up and it comes back ripped or something I doubt I'll let them borrow anything of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, when I lend something out, I expect whoever has it to treat it like I do. To be honest though, I haven't had any problems with anything I've ever lent out, I guess people know better!

    ReplyDelete
  27. That's cool, I've had one person not return something of mine but I had something of his so I chalked it up to a trade, I was upset about it but oh well. Do you loan out comics and stuff often?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Not really, I really don't know a lot of people who are into comic books anymore... I used to lend stuff out all the time(I'd even trade comics, I recieved X-Men Prime for Wolverine #50), but nowadays, I'm mainly lending my comics out to my siblings, who I turned into huge comic fans.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ah, I got ya, do you ever swap with your sister or have you two pretty much read everything that you each have?

    ReplyDelete
  30. We actually swap comics the most, mainly she'll ask me to order certain comics for her(which I will)and when the package arrives I'll send out the books she wanted to her. After she's done with 'em, she'll get them back to me, where I'll either add them to one of my many unread piles, or if it's something I'm totally not interested in, I'll just box it and put it away.

My brother was a huge Spider-Man/Iron Man fan when he was younger, so much so that for his 12th birthday I gave him my entire collection of Spidey comics(something like 200-300 books)I also would buy him subscriptions to Ult. Spidey and Amazing Spidey on his b-day every year. However, after Civil War, he lost intrest in Iron Man and by then he was starting High School and he was at that age where reading comics wasn't "cool". That's fine though, like a drug pusher, whenever I see him I'm always trying to rekindle his intrest in comics again!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lol thats so awesome, I'm always trying to get my friends who aren't interested into reading some comics, they love asking me questions about stuff though yet won't take time to read them.

I mainly swap stuff with my girlfriend since we like most of the same stuff. She HATES Booster Gold, even after reading 52, and you know I'm apart of the Boosterific fan club lol.

That sucks that your bro stopped reading comics but I'm sure he'll get back into it, you're right it's kinda like a drug, If I couldn't get comics anymore I'd be all over the internet trying to see what I missed out on.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah, I've known people who would ask me all kinds of questions about comic books, but they'd never "lower" themselves to actually reading a comic book.

How can she hate Booster?!?! Especially after reading 52? Poor Booster...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah I don't know what the problem is, oh well, sucks for them, they can always see the bad comic based movies I guess.

Yeah she's not a big Booster fan, I've been trying to convert her forever but what can ya do. Booster is the man, simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. She'll see the light eventually, how can't she?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, I'm gonna give her my Booster Issues, eventually she'll get bored, read them and become a fan of the Golden Hero.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ha, that sounds like a good strategy to me! Once she reads the first few issues, how can't she become hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, Booster's a very likeable hero in a Jerk kinda way, especially now that we see that he's a jerk for certain reasons. When he went back in time to save Barbara he earned a ton of respect from me.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah, the Babs storyline was great(although Rip was a real jerk for putting Booster through that!). Those first few issues of the Booster series were really, REALLY good.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I loved how he inadvertently gave Guy his second place spot, and how he gained Batman's respect in trying to save Babs. That was such a great way to start his series. And yeah Rip's the worst son ever for that. I wish Booster had two issues per month because I hate having to wait a month between reading about his exploits.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Twice the Booster would be great! Booster really needs to be added to a team.

One of my favorite Booster scenes was from the issue where he travels back in time to save the doctor who is supposed to deliver one of the Kents. I remember Booster being totally drunk and Skeets riding a horse. The image of Skeets riding a horse(when he can FLY!)always makes me laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lol, I loved when Booster totally ruined the timelime when he had Killer Moth beat Batman, then he went back in time and Dressed as Batman, and it just seemed like he could NOT get it right. Booster is so awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah, that was another great issue. Ah Booster Gold...

Hey, I bet you'll be picking up the newest issue of Booster on Wed. I'm def looking forward to that one.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yeah I'm eagerly awaiting that issue, I of course won't mention it until you read it, but Seeing Booster team up with Grayson should be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Unfortunately for me, I prob won't be ordering my copy until the next issue of Blackest Night comes out...

    ReplyDelete
  46. That sucks, but I won't ruin it for ya. I actually read Batgirl 3, Adventure Comics 3 and BN Batman 3 and I'm looking forward nto your eventual reviews on them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm subscribed to Adventure Comics, so that one should be coming in the mail... Eventually. DC's mail order service is WAY slower than Marvel's.

Unfortunately BN Bats and Batgirl are in the same boat as Booster Gold. They're sitting in my shopping cart waiting to be ordered.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ah well thats cool, I'm sure youre eventual reviews will jog my memory and we can converse about those, I know you got some other awesome things on the way like Superman Secret Origins by the fantastic Geoff Johns.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yep, I've got my fingers crossed that I'll be getting my package of comics tomorrow or at the latest Sat. They shipped out on Wed, and it's not a very long distance from NYC(where I ordered my books from)to Binghamton.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sweet, Im guessing if so your weekend will consist of Homework, Comics and football?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Actually, it should consist of sleep, comic books and football! I've managed to take care of all my outstanding homework for a change, and all I really have to do is study for upcoming Accounting and Spanish exams. My main objective this weekend is to try to catch up on some sleep though! I'm damn tired!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sweet, sounds like a relaxing weekend, hope ya enjoy it bro. Unless you're like me and a Night-owl/late sleeper you should be able to get a nice chunk of sleep in between reading and fool's ball. (Waterboy reference...wondering now if you've even seen it.)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Did I ever see Waterboy? Of course not!!! It's funny, the rest of my immediate family are really into movies, my father has hundreds of DVD's and my sister watches a whole mess of TV shows, but I'm just not a big movie/TV person. I guess I take after my mom, she's a big-time bookworm.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow, thats wild. My dad's a big DVD guy as well and I'm a big movie/tv person but I'm the same way with books but only when I can find something I'm super interested in. Like I loved reading HBK, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho's books. And All 3 of Foley's, but outside of comics there's not alot of other books that keep my attention. Well...there is but not any I haven't already read.

    ReplyDelete
  55. When I was a kid, I'd read anything and everything. From Shakespeare to Stephen King to John Grisham to Dean Koontz, I'd happily read it. Then I read some massive Stephen King novel, it was like 500+ pages long, and when I got to the end I was like, "That's it?". That's why I'm such a huge fan of comics. For the most part, there IS no ending. Every book, movie and television show ineveitably HAS to end eventually. You end up investing so much time learning/caring about someone/thing and sooner or later it ends, never to be seen again. Comics are different though. Superman has been around for what, over 70 years? I'm sure that after I'm dead and buried, Supes will still be saving the people of Metropolis. It's that continuity that I really like. Sure, sometimes characters die or fade away, but there's always the chance they'll come back. You read "The Firm" or watch "Terminator 2" and what do you have when it's over? Memories and nothing more... Wow, this post sure took a weird turn somewhere along the line!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Damn. I never thought about it like that, that's a hell of a good answer dude. That's the kinda answer that made me re-evaluate some things lol. I actually read all the Harry Potter Books, It was at the point where I liked them as a kid but as I got older I like HAD to read them just to know what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah, Harry Potter is actually a good example of what I'm talking about. My brother was the big Potter fan in the family, so I have some passing knowledge on the topic. Once the woman who writes the series, Rowling(?)decides she's done with the characters/series, that's it. You will never again get a Harry Potter fix. At least when a writer leaves a CB series, they get replaced by another writer. The next writer may not be as good, but at least the series/characters get to "live" on.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. And even when that story is done, or that character is "gone" like Bart Allen or Barry were, you can always go back and read more of their stuff that you missed until they eventually return. I never really thought about it like that until you pointed it out.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yep, that's the great thing about comics, the characters are pretty much immortal. Hell, look at Bucky from the Captain America comics. He was officially declared dead in 1963(ish)and came back to life around 2004. It doesn't matter who the character is, there's always a chance they'll come back sometime.

Sports are very similar, in that most teams aren't going to go anywhere, they've been around since before I was born, and they'll prob be around long after I'm gone. The NY Rangers have been around for over 70 years, it's a pretty safe bet they'll be around for at least another 70. The players may change, but the team doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  60. What about those dudes that never come back, well I guess they always could, but they haven't brought back Mar-Vell since they killed him off right?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Nope, Mar-Vell has only come back in alternate forms/flashbacks. Ah, but you see, as you said, they COULD always bring him back. If there's one thing I've learned from years of reading comic books, dead doesn't necessarily mean dead. Hell, In New X-Men #150, Wolverine decapitated Magneto on panel, and Mags still came back anyway! There's ALWAYS a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow. That's wild, well at least I know I don't have to be sad when one of my favs eventually gets killed off. Kinda ready for Bruce to return already and I'm a huge Grayson fan.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That's the funniest thing about Bruce, whenever I talk to somebody about him and his return, I never say "if" he comes back, I always say "when" he comes back. I don't think there is anybody in the world who thinks Bruce won't be back sooner rather then later. I'm going to say next summer we'll see Bruce come back, what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I was gonna say that, he'll definitely be back by next summer, fall at the latest. Not that I don't like Grayson It's just Batman isn't Batman without Bruce. I just hope Grayson doesn't fall into Wally West limbo.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I can one up you, I hope Dick doesn't wind up getting killed off! I'm definitely worried about what the future holds for Dick, he(obviously!)can't go back to being Robin, he won't be Batman, and the Nightwing name is currently taken... What exactly does that leave him? Batdude? Nightbat? Plus since he's been working with the Jinx in BN Batman, he's asking for a premature death!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lol, I also was thinking for Bruce to come back they'd kill off Dick but I didn't even think about the fact he's been working with Jinx lately. I feel like Dick is either gonna get killed off or become a Green Lantern because he's a viable candidate and I'm sure at least one notable Lantern will be dead at the end of Blackest Night.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Dick as a Green Lantern would be all kinds of awesome, but since he's already an established character, I'm just not sure if DC would do that. You'd think giving a new/unknown character a power ring would be instant credibility, and to be honest, Dick really doesn't need a ring. Right now, I'd say there's probably a 40% chance Dick gets killed off when Bruce comes back. I'm just not sure DC would move to kill him now after they decided not to kill him during Infinite Crisis. I'm still hoping for a new identity for Dick when everything is said and done.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm hoping he takes on a new identity, I just hate that someone as Solid as Dick (no pun intended) would have to take another name from scratch and build it into a credible role like he did for Robin & Nightwing. As long as he doesn't become The Target again I'm happy.

    ReplyDelete
  69. If Dick was in the Marvel Universe and was being written by BENDIS, there's no doubt in my mind he'd definitely become the Target again! Either that or he'd wind up becoming a woman...

Anyway, I think Dick is established enough that he'd be able to build up a new identity if need be. Just put him on a team like the JLA and give him a solo series and I'd bet that within a year or two nobody would remember he was ever Nightwing(OK, almost nobody!).

    ReplyDelete
  70. Lol a woman? Please tell me Bendis didn't turn a man into a woman.

Or maybe... we're overlooking the fact that Zod may kill Chris Kent. Dun dun dunnnn!!! Okay, I doubt that too, but then Dick could be Nightwing again. But him re-creating another persona wouldn't be bad, I'd rather its that than kill him off.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Actually that's like the only thing BENDIS hasn't done, every other writer in the Marvel U seems obsessed with sex changes! Off the top of my head, in recent years, Mr. Sinister and Loki actually transformed from men into women, while several other characters who were formerly men ended up getting new identities where they were now women. The Scorpion, Nomad and Bullseye identities are all now used by women.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh and about the Chris Kent/Nightwing thing, I think you very well may be on to something. I truly think either Chris or Flamebird is going to get killed off, which will lead to Supes returning to Earth. Chris' death would have much more of an impact on Supes...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hm..So lemme get this straight. Superman is on New Krypton yet in Blackest Night Superman he's on earth? Very confusing. I could see Zod killing his own son, or it may be someone I saw on Rip's chalk board, I'd tell ya who but...ya know, spoilers.

Either way I could see Chris Kent getting killed off, even though I liked him in his initial arc, I haven;t read anything with him as Nightwing.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yeah, I'd say I'm like 70% sure Chris is going to wind up dying, and that act will wind up bringing Supes back to Earth for good. I will say this about Supes, at least in BN Supes they did try to explain why he was on Earth during BN Supes(that day of mourning deal from BN #1). It was a weak reason, but still at least they tried!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Good point. So I'm lost on this whole New Krypton deal, you feel like giving me a quick summary?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Woo boy, I'm not sure how quick I can do it, but here goes. Before Krypton exploded, Brainiac captured and bottled the Kryptonian city of Kandor(he actually took two cities, but Kandor was the major one). Brainiac then shrunk the city, put it in a bottle, placed it on his ship and proceeded to drain the knowledge of the people trapped inside to make himself smarter. Supes found out, defeated Brainiac(although Brainiac killed Pa in retribution)and took the bottled city from Brainiac's ship. He put the city near the Fortress of Solitude and enlarged it, which placed Kandor on Earth.

Of course, now the Kryptonians all had Supes powers because of the yellow sun, and certain members of society saw this as a HUGE potential menace(Kryptonians were actually pretty warlike before they lost Krypton). There were a couple of cultural misunderstandings, and some Kryptonians killed some prison guards(I think). Gen. Lane(Lois' father, who had faked his death a while back)was leading a secret government program and sent Metallo and Reactron to assassinate the leader of Kandor, I forget his name, but he was Supergirl's father. After SG's dad's death, his wife, Alura(SG's mom), using Kryptonian technology, created another planet(New Krypton)opposite of Earth(on the other side of the moon)and moved her people there since she didn't trust/hated humanity now.

She also freed General Zod and his cronies from the Phantom Zone and named him the leader of the Kryptonian military, since Zod was a brilliant military stratigist before he was imprisoned. After learning that Zod would be leading New Krypton's military, and fearing the worse, Supes decided to move to New Krypton to keep an eye on Zod. Whew... That's pretty much what led into the World of New Krypton series.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Damn, sounds like a lot. Okay, so I understand all that, now Supes in on new Krypton and watching Zod. Now I have questions.(Consider it payback for SVR2010, lol.)

Any idea on how Lois feel about that? Mon-El is watching Metropolis right? And whats caused Chris and whoever the chick is to become Nightwing and Flamebird?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yeah, I owe you a lot, so ask away! :)

I'd love to know how Lois felt about her husband leaving her to watch one of his enemies on another world too! That's something that really hasn't been fully explored. I guess she's just playing the dutiful wife.

It's more like a combination of Mon-El, Guardian and Steel who are watching over Metropolis. Supes specifically went to those three guys before he left.

Flamebird is actually Supergirl's former best friend from Krypton. And the Nightwing/Flamebird deal is actually another long story. The short form is that Chris has these out of control age-bursts that age him 7 years at a time(something about being born in the Phantom Zone I think), and Thara(Flamebird)had visions which told her that her and Chris were the reincarnated forms of the Kryptonian gods Nightwing and Flamebird. Huh, that explanation makes Thara sound pretty crazy... Anyway, she rescued Chris from his father in the Phantom Zone, told him about her visions and they started working together as NW and FB.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I wanna know how they explained Clark leaving his job indefinitely. Then again I'm sure Perry knows he's Supes, like Gordon knows Bruce is Bats.

Oh okay, awesome. So I know about Steel and Mon-El but know alot about Guardian, who I believe I read is joining the new JLA, so whats his deal?

Gotcha, thanks for explaining that, I was kinda confused. I knew they were Kryptonian names and such, just didn't know why those two reclaimed them. So are there any issues where Chris runs into Clark and Lois? I'd be interested in seeing that conversation.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I think the official explaniation for Clark's absence is that he's at home in Smallville taking care of Ma after the death of Pa Kent. Of course, I can't think of any job where you get unlimited time to mourn the death of your father, but I guess they're just really nice in Metropolis!

Yep, Guardian is joing the new League. He was originally a cop back in the 1940's(?)and wound up taking a job at Project Cadmus. He died at Cadmus and the geniuses there decided to clone him because they really liked him or something! Anyway, Guardian has been killed and cloned a few times already. This is like the third or forth one I think.

There is an issue of Action Comics where Chris and Lois meet up, but I'm blanking on the issue. I'll dig it out tomorrow and let ya know which one it was. I don't think Supes and Chris have bumped into each other since Chris has been back though.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I could see that as a viable explanation but yeah he's been gone/gonna be gone for months right? Then again the guy jumped outta the window for a story with Supernova, thats a guy you don't wanna lose.

Hm...so basically he's a human that's been clones/killed but he hasn't went crazy like Bizarro or Grundy? Thats odd.

Sweet, looking forward to that, thanks. I'd love to see what does happen when Supes runs into Chris, who'd probably be dressed in his Nightwing attire when it happens.

    ReplyDelete
  82. HA, yeah, I remember that Supernova thing, if I were Perry I sure as hell wouldn't want to lose Clark! That's the thing about the Ma explanation, how long exactly can he claim to be with his mother before people begin to get suspicious?

Yeah, That's pretty much Guardian in a nutshell.

Well, Supes would know it was Chris, because when Supes returned to Earth during the Codename: Patriot storyline, he ran into Lois, who told him Chris was back. It would be nice to see Supes and Chris meet up though. I'm still looking for that issue with Lois and Chris though, I'll get back to ya later with it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yeah I could see why they'd get suspicious but at the same time it's like Clark is never around anyway and when he is he's always "In the Bathroom" or "Running out to get an interview" So I'm sure no one has even noticed he's gone yet.

Sounds kinda boring. Wonder why Supes picked him, I can see Mon-El and Steel but that sounds like a odd pick. And He's gonna be in the league?

Cool, thanks again for looking for me. So are Nightwing and Flamebird fighting crime on earth or Krypton? I'd assume Earth since everyone else on Krypton shares their powers.

I'd like to see Chris and Connor meet up at least once as well.

    ReplyDelete
  84. "So I'm sure no one has even noticed he's gone yet." HA!!! Yeah, he's been gone for 6 months and the Planet staff is like, "Oh Clark, I'm sure he's around here somewhere."

Guardian's is kind of like DC's Captain America in a way. He's been around forever, he's got a shield, he has great leadership qualities and... Well, that's about it.

Yep, they fight crime on Earth. Well, actually their mission is to locate the Kryptonian sleeper agents Gen. Zod has all over the Earth. They wear metal armor to give Earthlings the impression that their powers are technology based since all Kryptonians(except Superman)are banned from Earth.

Yeah, same here on the SB/Nightwing meeting. I remember back when Chris/Nightwing debut, EVERYBODY thought Nightwing was going to turn out to be SB!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm sure everyone thinks Perry sent him to cover some big awesome story and Perry's so busy yelling at Olsen he hasn't noticed Clark's desk is covered in dust.

Ah, so basically think Super Soldier and end up with DC's Guardian, I gotcha.

Hm...That sounds like a pretty good storyline, i may have to get into it, I know the trade is supposed to be coming out in the not to distant future, I recall seeing it at DCComics.com.

Everyone thought Supes was gonna be Nightwing? You mean in our world or in the comic world?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Poor Jimmy Olsen is dead... He won't be getting yelled at by anybody anymore!(well, until he comes back that is!)

Yeah, I've been pretty high on Action Comics, a lot of other comic fans really haven't seemed to enjoy it though. I really liked Chris from the Last Son story, and like the idea of him being a hero now, so that may explain why I tend to enjoy Action more then other people.

No, not Superman, Superboy. In our world, every one thought Geoff was going to bring Superboy back as Nightwing. Nightwing even constantly talked about his Tactile-Telekinesis, just like Superboy used to.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Lmao...I was so unaware. I remember your review saying he was shot but I figured they'd swerve it and say his dormant superpowers saved him for the thousandth time.

I also was a big fan of Chris after reading Last son, thats why I think I may be interested in seeing him as Nightwing.

Ahh! Gotcha, so wait, Chris ALSO has Tactile Telekinesis? I thought on SB had that. Well That'd explain why everyone thought he was Nightwing eh?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh, I'm sure Jimmy will be back(prob just like you said, thanks to some dormant superpowers).

Yeah, for some reason when Chris was 15(ish)he had tactile TK. I'm not sure/I can't remember if he still has it after his growth splurt though. Yeah, Geoff def tricked evertybody with the Nightwing/Tactile TK references.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Probably turned into gas and drifted away or something stupid.

Geoff is a genius for that then, well played Johns well played. I wonder why only those two have it but no other Kryptonians.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Well, SB is only half Kryptonian, so there's his excuse. I know Chris isn't as strong as other Kryptonians because of the fact that he was conceived in the Phantom Zone. As a matter of fact, he may be missing a lot of powers other Kryptonians have.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hm...So since he aged alot due to the Phantom Zone are they any signs he may continue aging too rapidly, like Bart did?

    ReplyDelete
  92. He's had two growth splurts already, from 7 to 14 and then from 14 to 21-22. I hope they don't keep up aging Chris prematurely, but who knows, maybe that's how DC will kill him off, they'll have him age to like 100 or something. It seems like his aging is a random thing(in other words, it happens when the writers get bored!).

    ReplyDelete
  93. Ahh, and of course that could be how Dick retakes the Nightwing name once Bruce comes back. Quick question, if Bruce comes back while Dick as Batman is in the JLA do you think Dick would remain in the JLA just as Nightwing or Bruce would take up the Batman role in the new JLA.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Knowing Bruce, he's going to come back all moody and he'll prob blow everybody off and do the loner thing for a while. I think(provided he's still alive)Dick will immediately defer to Bruce, and give him both the Batman name and his spot on the League. I don't see Bruce taking either right away though. If Bruce is around though, there's NO way Dick keeps the Batman name, the only reason he's even Batman right now is to keep up appearances, when Bruce comes back, he can stop pretending to be someone he isn't/doesn't want to be.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Oh of course, I know he's gonna give up the name, i was just wondering would they just say oh well Batman is outta the JLA but Nightwing is in, or would Bruce just take up being in the JLA.

You think so? I figure with him being alone for so long he'd be trying to be around people, especially Alfred, Dick, Damien and Selina because he'd realize what he's been taking for granted.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Bruce is one strange cat, so there's no telling what kind of condition he's going to return in. I just can't imagine a kinder, gentler Bruce Wayne, so I figure he's going to go the oppisite way and become a real pain in the ass upon returning. I could actually see him pushing friends and family away from him because he wouldn't know how to deal with the extra attention he'd be getting.

I'd guess that when Bruce comes back, neither he nor Dick will be members of the League. I bet Dick leaves so as to not step on Bruce's toes, and Bruce refuses to join because it's not "his" League.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I could see that, I really wanna know what their gonna do with Hush once Bruce does finally come back. I could see Bruce letting Hush walk around as Bruce just so he could be Batman 24/7 considering Hush hasn't really screwed anything up as of yet.

I could see that, I'm also wondering will Alfred still head up the Outsiders or if Bruce would bump him down from leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The thing with Hush is actually a stroke of genius! That seems EXACTLY like the sort of thing Bruce would do. I'm sure Bruce is going to come back a little crazy(or crazier I guess), and I could easily see him being Batman all the time while tricking Hush into thinking he doesn't want him to continue being Bruce Wayne.

I'd think Alfred would be MORE then happy to step down as leader of the Outsiders. The guys a butler, not a super-hero!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah, Right? Because it's like he hates being Bruce anyway, he's Batman playing Bruce, so if he could manipulate Hush into being Bruce (which shouldn't be hard seeing as Hush is much dumber now than he originally was for some reason) he could be Batman the entire time.

Good point, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce left him in charge of the team. Alfred's more than capable for what he does.

And congrats on ANOTHER Hundred comments.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I had to laugh at your comment on Hush! What happened to that guy? I remember that he was CRAZY smart back in his initial few appearances(that first Hush storyline was all kinds of awesome!), and then he just kind of fell off. If written correctly, Hush could easily become one of Batman's top rogues.

I'm def undecided on what Bruce'll do with Alfred and the Outsiders upon his return. I've def start to read those Outsider comics I've got!

Wow, is it 100 already? That sure went by pretty fast!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yeah it's sad, that dude went from like, Batman/Deathstroke level of planning stuff out to just being Bruce Wayne's doppleganger. He had a EXCELLENT backstory and everything. They just steamrolled his character.

I need to start reading mine too since I'm 100% sure Terra is gonna show up to fight Geo Force eventually due to BN.

Yep, I think I may win the award for most frequent commenter.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yeah, maybe sometime during my vacation in December I'll dig out my Absolute Hush and give it a reread one day. Hush was a really great, complex character.

I've got like 3 or 4 issues laying around and I just haven't gotten around to them yet... Oh well, one day I guess.

Dude, it's not even close! You are by FAR the most frequent commenter on both of my blogs!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I need to get that, Hush was awesome man. Hopefully someone gives him his awesomeness back, because being him Bruce Wayne is almost as boring as Batman just being Bruce Wayne.

I've got like 15 that I haven't read but I'm catching up on some Young Justice Issues, I also got Tangent Superman Reign and I picked up Salvation Run.

Lol I rule, what do I win?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yeah, Absolute Hush is the only DC Absolute collection I have, and it's one of the jewels of my CB collection.

Man, you probably have almost as many back issues laying around your place as I do!

Hmm, how about I make sure no super-villains ever wipe you out of the timestream. That's a pretty valuable prize!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think I'm gonna get the Absolute Green Lantern Rebirth when it drops next year, but I definitely want Absolute Hush.

Lol I have alot of stuff to read sitting around but nowhere near what you have dude. You've probably read as many issues as I have laying around in the last month.

That's an awesome prize Rip. Shall It be written, shall it be done! Wait crap! I shoulda asked for SHAZAM powers. Frick.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I already own the Green Lantern Rebirth trade(which is AWESOME!), so I doubt I'll spend the extra $ on the Absolute edition.

The funny thing is that I have so many things laying around that I haven't read yet that I don't even know what to read first! On top of that it's a real pain trying to figure out where to put the comics when I finish them. I have so many crates laying around full of comic books it's ridiculous! I used to have a composition notebook that I'd use to write what comic went in which crate/box, but after awhile I just gave up on that system, now I have to try to memorize what series belongs in what crate/box, it can be a real headache!

Dude, I'm Rip Hunter, not a frigging genie! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  107. I haven't read how Hal came back yet. Shocking right? So I'll probably get that so I can know the entire story behind it.

That's amazing, I honestly don't see how you find what you want. When you post scans do you just grab a random comic or look for something specifically?

Lol true, but surely the great Rip Hunter can go back in time and get me a Genie Lamp, or put me in Barry Allen's lab when he became The Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Yeah, that is actually a surprise. Man, you're going to love that comic, EVERYBODY I've spoken to loves GL Rebirth, I wish I could read it again for the first time!

Mainly I just pull stuff at random. I'll walk over to a random crate/box, dig in and pull out a book. That is unless I'm doing a theme or posting requests. Surprisingly I can find most things I'm looking for pretty quickly, although sometimes I'll just be totally lost when I'm looking for something. A few days ago my sister asked me if I had certain back issues of Action Comics, and it took me like 10-15 minutes just to find my Action Comic back issues!

Yeah, but if I was to do that I'd cause irreparable damage to the space-time continuum... Or something like that!

    ReplyDelete
  109. You're hyping it too much, Now I'm not gonna wanna wait for the Absolute one lol. I won't be lost will I? I know about the average fan's worth of GL, I know he was Parallax and stuff.

That is a sign that you have a TON of comics. If you have friends over they have like...places to sit right? Lol.

Well played Hunter..well played. You're surprisingly good at these excuses.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Dude, I went into that comic with less GL info then you did believe it or not. When I first read GL Rebirth, I was still pretty much a newbie to the DCU, and for the most part I understood everything in that trade. Granted there were a few references that went over my head, but that trade turned me into a HUGE GL fan.

I'd feel sorry for anybody who tried to sit on one of my comic book boxes! They'd be asking for a spiked piledriver if they did!!!

Hey, I'm Rip Hunter, I've been around for like hundreds of years or something, I've had a LONG time to come up with tons of excuses and cop-out answers!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'll definitely look into it then. I've been becoming a fan of Hal lately, back before BN started so I'm sure I'll be able to get into it.

Lmao, the fact that you even reference a spike Piledriver makes you the coolest dude around.

Lol @ like hundreds of years..or something. Which is it Rip? And any relation to Rip Hamilton?

    ReplyDelete
  112. "Lmao, the fact that you even reference a spike Piledriver makes you the coolest dude around." I agree with you completely. I am the coolest dude around! ;)

I stick with 100 years or something. I've been alive for so long it feels like a hundred years... Or something! If I told you the answer to the Rip Hamilton question, I'd wind up destroying the space time continuum, etc...

    ReplyDelete
  113. The fact that you agreed makes your nomination for coolest guy around now void. Sorry X-Man, but even the coolest guy knows you're only cool if you act like being cool isn't cool...or something. I feel like I had a highschool Flashback.

Hm..so in other words, Rip Hunter IS Rip Hamilton. That explains so much...and yet so little. Like why Ben Wallace left only to come back three years later.

    ReplyDelete
  114. "The fact that you agreed makes your nomination for coolest guy around now void." Dammit!!! I knew I should have just kept my mouth shut! That's the most times I've ever seen the word "cool" used in the same sentence...

If that were the case(and I can neither comfirm nor deny due to the space/time continuum)it would mean that I really like the name Rip, and that I am actually every Rip throughout reality at the same time!!! Or something!

    ReplyDelete
  115. It's also the most time's I've ever used the word cool in my entire life. Ya gotta play it cool like um..Fonzie or The Rock.

Hm...are there any other notable Rip's besides Rip Hamilton, Rip Hunter and Rip Torn the actor?

    ReplyDelete
  116. That's why it's so easy for me to be every Rip at the same time, 'cause there's not many. Besides the three you've mentioned, the only other one is the mysterious Rip Kord.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yes but did I mention that...I am the mysterious Rip Kord?! Oh yes..now let your mind speculate how exactly this may be true. *waits*

    ReplyDelete
  118. Heh-heh, "Rip Kord"... That must have been a tough name to live down as a kid. Hmm, let's see, you must be my alternate counterpart from Earth-85. Yeah, that's it! *HA-HA, Rip you are a genius!*

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hm...You are right..EXCEPT I'm your EVIL counterpart from Earth-85, and I'm here to take over your blogs!!! Mwa-HaHahahA! Notice my evil yet opposite laugh? And by the way Rip Hunter isn't the coolest name either!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Ugh, I thought I'd eliminated all of my evil counterparts already... *Sigh*... Oh well, I'll be hunting you down now Mr. Rip Kord(heh-heh, "Rip Kord"). "Mwa-hahahaha"? Didn't Bowser from Mario Bros. used to laugh like that?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Lol he sure did, on Super Mario 64. Btw that was one of the best games ever. I'm thinking of buying a 72 pin replacement and fixing my old NES thats sitting next to my 360,PS3, and n64. Yes..I am a nerd. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oh yeah, Super Mario 64 was def one of the greatest games of all time. Now that you've brought that up though, what game would you consider the greatest of all-time? You know, the game you've enjoyed the most, not necessarily the game with the best graphics or story or anything, just your favorite game. For me it would have to be the original Legend of Zelda. That was one of the first video games I ever played, and I still have a copy of it with my Gamecube(which I'll still bust out every now and then). Super Metroid also ruled, as did X-Men Legends 2 for the PSP.

Dude, if you think you're a nerd, I'm WAY worse. Not only do I still have my N64 laying around, I also a Gamecube and a Dreamcast in my closet! Jeez, I've had more systems then I can rememeber!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Hm...there's so many for me, just plain fun games I could play forever. Besides Super Mario 64 I'll probably have to say Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Legend of Zelda Lost in Time, and Super Mario Bros. 3, man I love playing that game, especially the two player mode with the pipes.

I always wanted a Dreamcast, my friend broke his out a few months ago when he was home from college and we burned a few games to CD like Gauntlet Legends but the game we played the most was that awesome Power Stone game.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I love all of those games! Mario Bros 3 is a total classic. The only reason I'd ever think about getting a WII is because I know they have so many of those classic NES, SNES and N64 games on that system.

The Dreamcast was one strange system. The N64 controllers were really weird, but nothing on any system can touch the bizarre Dreamcast controllers! I don't know what Sega was thinking with that one!

    ReplyDelete
  125. I had a Wii, it's not all its cracked up to be. Although I ended up selling it for my PS3 so that should let ya know. You may be better off just buying the NES/SNES/N64 off of Craigslist or eBay.

Lol with the memory card in the middle that also worked as a portable game for some reason...man that was odd.

    ReplyDelete
  126. It's not so much the systems themselves that I'd want(I still have my N64, and I've read about some system that plays both NES and SNES games), it's the actual games themself that are so hard to find/expensive. It just seems easier to buy a WII and download all of the classic games. But I'd never spend all that money on a WII just to play like 20 year old games! That would be Warrior-crazy, and although I'm def somewhat crazy, I'm not quite Warrior-crazy... Yet.

Yeah, that was just weird! I don't know WHAT Sega was thinking with that. That controller was pretty heavy with the memory thing inside too. You could mess somebody up with one of those controllers!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Lol what you could do is trade some older games at the site I go to. Gametz.com, and basically when someone has something you want and you have something they want you just pay for shipping and ship it to one another. New members send to older more established members first so people won't be ripped off.

Lol used as a weapon of some sort in the new PG WWE. Bah Gawd king, Hornswogle just clocked Triple H with that Sega Dreamcast controller!

    ReplyDelete
  128. I prob could/should, I've def got a few games I'm not really interested in playing anymore. Maybe during winter break(if I remember!)I'll give that site a look.

"With Gawd as my witness, Triple H is broken in half!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  129. Sweet, I'll remind you..if I forget. But yeah, I've been trying to trade so I can get Uncharted 2 from someone.

Lol classic JR terms. "He's whupping Cena like a government mule!!!" If that's not the most obvious Republication statement I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Well, Vince is very Republican, right? I think Linda is running as a Republican.

You could probably fill a book with all of the various JR-isms.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I believe he is, so thats why he lets it fly from JR. I wouldn't be surprised if Vince told him to say it now that you point that out.

I know government mule, taking him to the woodshed, Bah Gawd would all have their own chapters.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeah, "taking him to the woodshed". There's another classic. Of course you'd also need a chapter for all JR's Steve Austin related lines... Man did JR love screaming out, "Stone Cold!"

    ReplyDelete
  133. Lol JR loves Stone Cold, but remember that one time Stone cold beat the hell outta Good ol JR? Man everyone used to beat up JR. Stone Cold, Taker, Triple H broke his arm that one time. They do that guy so wrong sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Oh yeah, definitely those two moments were awful for the career of JR. And when he left for that surgery and Vince had that video of someone that's supposed to be JR and he pulled all that stuff off his butt. Man that was brutal...for JR to be such a amazing announcer they really mistreat him.

    ReplyDelete
  135. It must have been tough for JR to go through with some of the junk they've put him through. I can remember back in the day when the top two WWF announcers were Vince and Gorilla Monsoon and all they had to worry about was announcing, not getting set on fire!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Lol Exactly. Gorilla would whoop ass if anyone even pitched that idea. I hate that it's always King or JR that take these beatings. King was a wrestler so that I can see, but JR is a man with Bells Palsy.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Yeah, Gorilla was a classic. I miss his banter with Jesse and Heenan. Sometimes it was fun just to listen to those guys talk, they could make a dull wrestling match entertaining.

I think that's probably the reason why JR always finds himself in such sucky positions, beating on him is such a sure-fire way to gain cheap heat. I mean who doesn't like good ol' JR? You want cheap heat, break JR's arm, beat him with a belt or set the poor guy on fire, instant cheap heat!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I love announcers that can draw you in like JR or make cogent points like Striker is doing. I watched a little of SD! Tonight and their actually making him a heel announcer and I'm really loving that.

    ReplyDelete
  139. That's one of the things the company could really use, a real, old fashioned heel announcer. Not a tweener type like King turned into, but somebody who'll just bury every face just because they're a face. JBL was actually a pretty good heel announcer. He was good at building up the heels and tearing down the faces, something King hasn't done in years now.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Yeah JBL was good at putting over guys who are stuck in midcard like Matt Hardy and Gregory Helms as billing them as guys that could be champs with a few big wins. I loved JBL's announcing. Striker is kinda how King was back in the day, he's automatically siding with Heel's which is a great thing, I'm glad someone recognized that heel announcers are a great thing to have. Now if we could just get some good managers, and not just the Stacy Keibler eye candy types.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Yeah, JBL practically got Helms over by himself! He was great at propping up the heel, IMO he'd be a great fit at the Raw table.

Heel announcing and managers... We sound really nostalgic for late 80's/early 90's WWF/E wrestling!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I'd love him on RAW, building up guys like Swagger and Miz. Now that I think of it, Cole was a good announcer on Smackdown but he went to RAW and it's like they just told him to be a big tool because now he's just annoying as hell.

Lol well what can ya say. They showed some videos for Cap. Lou Albano a few weeks ago after he was passed. They'd never hire a manager that looks like he looked now which sucks because he was an awesome talent.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Yeah, Cole and JBL were a good team, as shocking as it is to type that! JBL played the straight-up heel role, with Cole playing the exacerbated play by play man. I'm with you on this one 100%. Cole on Raw has just been terrible. I don't know if it's 'cause he's saddled with King(who doesn't seem to care anymore)or 'cause Raw is live and SD is taped, so he could always edit out any errors before the show aired, but Cole really doesn't belong on Raw.

Man, Capt. Lou was one of the all-time greats. Him and Classy Freddy Blassie were from before I started watching wrestling, but I remember watching some old videos of their managerial work and being so impressed. They could get CRAZY heat from the crowd. Maybe that's why the E won't hire any talented managers anymore, a real good manager is capable of getting so much heat that they wind up overshadowing the guy they're managing.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I agree that King just seems to not care anymore. I'd have to say if I could pick the new announce team for Raw I'd have to pick Striker and JR because both of them are so passionate and just plain great.

You may be right about that. Because I remember reading that Captain Lou got heat from eating a sub while he was managing. That's just plain awesome. And I'll always remember how it looked like he tripped at the end of the Super Mario Bros. show.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I'd have absolutely no problem with Striker and JR as the announcers for Raw. I think they'd be able to bring out the best in each other like JR and King used to do YEARS ago.

"And I'll always remember how it looked like he tripped at the end of the Super Mario Bros. show." You've GOT to enlighten me on that, 'cause I don't know what you're talking about!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Yeah those two would perfectly compliment each others style. And JR as the overly babyface announcer and with Striker being an ass and having wrestled recently enough to have views on being in the ring with some of the guys it really seems like they'd be a great announce team.

Really? Oh man, I'll youtube you. Basically at the end of the old Mario Bros. Show they used the same scene twice, but it jumped because it was edited very crappy. So it looks like he stumbled REALLY hard. Check it out. It's at the last couple seconds.
