Salvation Run #5(May 2008)

Here we have the Joker making a joke at Catwoman's expense... OK, it's not much of a joke, but still...(there's another one Jason, if you want to count that lame "joke"!)

  1. I will count this, if only because of the stunning view we get of Selina in the last panel

  2. Ah yes, the lovely Ms. Kyle is quite limber, isn't she. Bats sure has some great taste in women.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Between her, Talia, Andrea Beaumont and the rest Im starting to believe he let that Omega beam hit him just so he could get some time to recharge.

    ReplyDelete
  4. HA! Just imagine what he'll be like when he gets back!

    ReplyDelete
  5. He's probably gonna cry and then be happy to be around his Bat-Family then a month later he;s back to dark, brooding, still dating hot women Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Tim will definitely cry, he seems to cry at the drop of a hat, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Alfred shed a tear or two. Bats'll probably downplay everything and be out on the streets like the next day.

  7. I'm wondering will Grayson just go back to being Nightwing, even though their doing the Nightwing and Flamebird thing currently.

    ReplyDelete
  8. That's the thing I've been worrying about... We all know Bruce will be back eventually, which means when he comes back, Dick needs a new identity. My guess is that either Dick or Chris Kent is going to bite the bullet prior to Bats returning, which sucks since I'm a fan of both Nightwings.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm curious about that as well, it's gonna be weird when Bruce comes back to say the least with all these shifting positions. I could see Dick taking the Nightwing name back moreso than anything else though.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, things have really changed in the Bat-universe since Bruce's "death". One thing we know is that Dick definitely won't be Batman once Bruce returns. I'll be interested to see what will happen to the other members of the Bat-family too.

I almost think Dick going back to being Nightwing would be a huge step back for him. I think I could see Chris Kent keeping the Nightwing moniker and Dick getting a new identity, kind of like Tim did.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I was also thinking that but at this point its like, what can Dick do to cement himself, he made Nightwing from the ground up kinda, besides the name anyway, and I can't see him putting work in to another name. Especially that God-awful Target persona he used for a while, so I'm kinda hoping he takes over for a more established person...Not saying he should be a new Green Lantern or something but it wouldn't surprise me, given his love for Hot Aliens.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Damn, I can't believe you remember/even know about Dick's brief run as the Target! Now I'm really impressed!

Dick as a GL is actually kind of interesting, if a bit farfetched. I'm sure there's going to be a huge shake-up of all things Green Lantern after Blackest Night concludes, personally I can see Hal winding up as the leader of either the GLC or his own Corps. Dick would make a good addition to a GLC led by Hal.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah i read Target maybe a month or two ago, I didn't care for it much but I'll read pretty much anything if it has people I like in it.

Yeah when i said it I was just throwing it out there but now that I think about it Dick would be a good Green Lantern. I can imagine the conversations with him and Bruce, and Dick is the one man that doesn't have powers that I believe wouldn't be corrupted once he gets them. And I agree, I could also see Hal becoming the leader of the GLC or getting his own corp. I'm sure thats the way its gonna go, and of course one of the known GL's (probably Stewart, Rayner or Gardner) being killed off.

    ReplyDelete
  14. About a year ago I managed to score the entire Nightwing series off of eBay, and Target was one of the throw-ins the guy sent me. I agree, it really wasn't that good an issue. While we're on the topic of the old Nightwing series, do you remember Torque, the dude with his head turned the wrong way back during Dick's Bludhaven days? I was really wishing he would have come back as a Black Lantern. That was like the dumbest gimmick for a villain I'd ever seen!

I've been thinking the same thing about the established Lanterns. I have a sneaking suspicion that Kyle is going to be the one to fall... I hope not, but I just don't see John or Guy dying, and Kyle's death would be that "big" death that every major comic x-over seems to need.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I've read up on the character but I haven't read any actual comics with Torque in it, from what you said Im starting to be glad I didn't, Lol.

Funny thing is, I don't remember exactly how I found your blog but I think I was searching for good Nightwing Arcs to check out about two weeks ago, and I clicked a link that brought me here where you summed up pretty much every Nightwing issue and I spent like a hour and a half just reading all your reviews on them seeing which one's I wanted to check out. And Gladly I stayed away from the Tarantula and the whole raping Grayson thing.

And I agree, I was thinking it may be Kyle as well, I could see him over John and Guy now that uou say that, because Kyle's like the "biggest" Lantern in the comics besides Hal, plus they can always bring him back two years later.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Torque was just plain hilarious! His whole deal was his head was on backwards thanks to Blockbuster... Just think about that... He actually became a serious crime boss in Bludhaven with his head on the wrong way! I should definitely post some pics of Torque, I used to get such a kick out of him.

You actually went back and read all those Nightwing reviews I posted last year?!? Jason, you have my sympathy! Some of those reviews were brutally bad! :) Seriously though, thanks for reading 'em, writing all of those Nightwing reviews was a real labor of love. Ugh, just thinking back to the entire sorry Tarantula/Nightwing ordeal makes my blood boil... That was one of the worst comic book storylines ever.

With some of the recent events in the GLC series, if Kyle were to die, I can already see exactly how they could bring him back...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Lol it sounds funny, who's gonna fear a dude who can literally WATCH you kick his ass...thats just outrageous.

And yeah I read em, I'd say a good 85% of them as I skipped the one's I'd already read, and nah they were interesting. I didn't regret it at all. I'd imagine that Tarantula storyline was the Nightwing Equivalent of Spiderman Brand New Day in terms of horrible storylines.

And just outta curiousity how do you see Kyle's Death and/or return to the DC Universe?

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Lol it sounds funny, who's gonna fear a dude who can literally WATCH you kick his ass...thats just outrageous." It's funny 'cause it's true! He'd run around with mirrored sunglasses and an old school tommy gun, just to complete the utter hilarity of it all!

That Tarantula storyline almost totally destroyed the entire Nightwing character for me. It was that bad.

Well, recently in GLC, Sodam Yat, who was in possession of the Ion power died(or so it seems)turning Daxam's sun from red to yellow. With Sodam dead, that means the Ion force is without a host, and not all that long ago, Kyle served as the host of the Ion entity. To me it would seem logical that Ion would just re-attach itself to Kyle to save him from death/or bring him back to life... Maybe!

    ReplyDelete
  19. That makes alot of sense. I could honestly see that happening, I know little about his past as Ion but not enough to come to that realization but that is a really good idea. At this point it wouldn't surprise me.

Okay this is very random, but since we were on the subject of Black Lanterns, how do you think Geo-Force is gonna deal with seeing the inevitable Black Lantern Terra?

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Terra/Geo-Force meeting should be good, GF has always been haunted by his sister's death, but I'm actually hoping Terra runs into Deathstroke. After the way Slade used and abused her, that confrontation should/would be interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I hadn't even thought of that, as well as Deathstroke's son's return that'd also be awesome. I think we haven't really seen how these returns will affect the villains as well, I especially wanna see if The Trickster returns from the dead. I'd really taken a liken to him in Countdown.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, I thought Countdown was awful, except for Trickster! He had me laughing constantly. I forget who he was talking to but I remember him playing out a scene to sombody with little finger puppets!

I forgot about the original Ravager! I'd pay good money to see Slade and Rose battle it out with Grant. I'm still hoping to see Inertia return as a BL and get even with the Rogues who murdered him.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Man Trickster was so awesome, I was so sad when he got killed off. He's honestly the best thing about Countdown in my eyes, everything else bored the hell outta me, But Trickster ruled.

There's so many people I wanna see return, I saw the artwork for a WW book and It was so awesome, Maxwell Lord had WW Tied with her lasso and he was gonna snap her neck, that cover is gonna be so epic. I love when stuff goes full circle like that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Countdown was horrible compared to 52. 52>Countdown.

The Maxwell Lord/WW confrontation should be EPIC! Before BN got underway, there were a few things I really wanted to see, Kid Flash vs. Inertia, Booster Gold vs, Blue Beetle(Ted Kord), Supes vs Pa Kent, and def WW vs Max.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, the only reason I even read Countdown is because I figured it would be awesome after I read 52, boy was I wrong. 52 had Black Adam, Booster Gold, The Question and a bunch of other people I love, then 52 had Trickster who they killed off and a poorly used Jason Todd. Just horrible.

I agree with everything you said, I can't wait to see some of those, I hope we do get Geo-Force and Terra or Terra and Slade as well, I don't know if we'll get Pa Kent since they made no type of effort to ressurect him in the last Issue of BN Supes even though its all they talked about...How long does it take to put a ring on the guys finger.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing about Pa after reading BN Supes #1! Why the hell did BL Supes have to go through the trouble of digging Pa's grave up?!? I thought the rings just flew right under the ground and attached to the corpse. What is Pa's coffin made out of, adamantium?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lmao, I wouldn't be surprised if It was lead lined or something dumb. I agree though, Martian Manhunter's ring found him on Mars in a freaking pyramid AND bust through his casket, yet nothing can penetrate the wonderful soil of Smallville.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I guess farm soil is way tougher then soil found anywhere else in the universe!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Clearly, especially soil that Superman has been tolling...I think thats the phrase...although is some super strong alien was pulling shears through soil on a regular basis it'd probably have the consistency of a marshmallow.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah man, considering Supes could tear metal doors apart, you'd think the soil on the Kent family farm would be like a swamp!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Exactly, and you cant tell me they have like a tractor because who would waste the money when your son can lift a friggin buidling. Come to think of it Superman is like the perfect lawn tool...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love that you just called Superman, maybe DC's most iconic hero the perfect lawn tool! THAT had me nearly hysterical with laughter!

"Faster then a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and pretty damn good in the garden as well!"

    ReplyDelete
  33. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Lmao, I mean come on, why else would Lois be with the man. He's always gone, everyone thinks Clark is a nerd, they can't have sex because of his super alien seed, but he can grown the hell outta some vegetables.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The real question now becomes where exactly does he do his gardening in a concrete jungle like Metropolis???

    ReplyDelete
  36. The real question is Where DOESN'T he do his gardening in Metropolis. This is the same man that has a friggin Ice Castle with an enormous key outside of it, has a dog with a Cape and is the only superhero without a disguise yet still has a secret Identity. The World is his garden.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ha, great point! I think it's safe to say Supes can garden where ever the hell he wants to.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thank ya sir, Supes is one man that can do whatever the hell he wants. Speaking of which I looked up some stuff on Supes and stumbled on to a discussion on whether or not Superman could break Admantanium, and people said Pre-crisis he could, and Prime could but Post Crisis probably couldn't. what are your thoughts on that?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hmm, well, I did grow up reading Marvel books, so to be honest, I don't think anybody could break adamantium, not even a fully charaged up version of Supes. Wolvie has gone toe to toe with some of Marvel's heaviest hitters and his adamantium has never failed him. That said, Supes could def take Wolvie in a fight, but IMO nobody can bust adamantium, not Supes, not Prime, not Doomsday, not anybody.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thats what I was thinking, about his Admantanium being too powerful, yet someone posted he had some fight and one of his claws broke. I don't know whether thats true or not but it'd seem if that was the case maybe Supes could break it. Hell Spidey did it in that Web of Shadows game.

They were also discussing if Supes could beat Thor which is weird cause I had the same conversation with my Dad earlier today, and even though Thor is Magic based I felt Superman could always take his hammer, being that only certain people can pick it up, and I recall him lifting it in JLA/Avengers, as well as Wonder Woman. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I actually just saw the scan you posted where Supes knocked Thor out...That spoke for its self. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  42. The only time Wolvie's claws ever broke was after Magneto ripped the Adamantium out of him and his claws were made out of bone. I can say with 99.999999% confidence that Wolvie's adamantiun laced claws never broke... Sure there's a 0.000001% chance I'm wrong, but still.

Supes KOing Thor was awesome! I may be a Marvel fan first and foremost, but I can't stand Thor. I was rooting hard for Supes in that fight! The Captain America/Batman fight was also quite well done.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm gonna try to see if I can find what comic they claim it broke in. *Goes to look....* So It's not Wolverine but this is the closest thing I found.

"Another incident regarding the UMU Adamantium's durability involves the Ultimate Universe's version of Sabretooth. He possesses four Adamantium claws implanted within each forearm. Through circumstances yet to be revealed, one of the claws implanted within his left forearm is broken."

I'm also not a fan of Thor, He's so self righteous, I always enjoy watching someone clean his clock. I loved the Bats and Cap fight because It made them both look good, rather than one-sided.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't count the Ultimate Universe, in the Ultimate U, Wolverine was torn in half by Hulk. The way I see it is that the adamantium in the Ultimate Marvel U is WAY weaker then the adamantium in the regular Marvel U... I have NO idea why that is, but that seems to be the case.

Yeah, I liked the way the Cap/Bats fight started out slowly as they both seemed like they were testing out the abilities of their opponent, before Bats came to the conclusion that the fight would be meaningless because eventually, prob in an hour or so Cap would wind up winning.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hm..I didnt know that about the Ultimate Universe, that is pretty weird.

Yeah, thats what I figured as well, Although I do love that Batman has the abilities to keep up with a Super Soldier, that speaks volumes about how awesome Bats it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I really enjoyed all of Batman and Cap's parts together in JLA/Avengers, especially when they were in the Cave and Cap noticed Jason Todd's costume on display. For a fan of both companies, that mini was simply amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm actually gonna re-read that today due to the memories I've gotten just talking about it with you.

Oh, I had an idea, so you know how we just made our team of Second Stringers in another post, I figured it'd be awesome if in the vein of Batman Superman - World's finest, we made a comic called Jason Todd Superman Prime - World's Worst. Lol My girlfriend even made up a quick photoshop banner.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ha, based on the pic, I'd def buy it! You should start circulating that pic online, I bet you'd get a bunch of people thinking that was a real series coming out!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Lol I think I will, hell maybe DC would actually do it, That'd be awesome. I actually read World's Finest 3 today with Superboy and Robin, it was pretty good. I think it was the first time they'd met.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's the one with Poison Ivy, right? If it is I think that was indeed their first real meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah and Metallo. It was really good, I love how SB just rushed her to get a kiss and pushed Robin outta the way. I also like that he calls him Wonder Boy instead Boy Wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, I enjoyed that issue as well. Let's see, Robin met Impulse for the first time in an issue of "Robin +"(I think that's what it was called...)and SB first met up with Impulse in an issue of "Superboy and the Ravers". The first time all three of them got together was the precursor to Young Justice, which I believe was called World Without Adults. Since those three were the heart of YJ I figured I'd throw those books out there for you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks, I'll definitely look into it. I don't know what I like more, the fact that Impulse is so lovable and funny or that Superboy is ALWAYS talking about his tactile telekinesis.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Man, if you read some of SB's earliest appearances, every other word out of his mouth is "tactile telekinesis"!

I think the thing about Bart that really appealed to me was the way he'd always think in pictures... I'd always get a kick out of that!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lol, I can imagine how much he says it in the beginning. He wouldn't shut up about it in World's Finest 3 or Young Justice. Seemed like he was almost as dumb as Superboy Prime. That guy gave me some literal laugh out loud moments in Legion of 3 Worlds.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Prime MADE Legion of Three Worlds! I'll always remember L3W for bringing back SB and Bart, as well as for how hilarious Prime was!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I loved his argument with himself, then Brainy just saying "What an idiot." And of course at the end where he's whining about his grilled cheese sandwich. That moved him up to my top 5 villains.

    ReplyDelete
  58. There were so many great moments with Prime in that series it's hard to pick just one!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love Prime, he's like a six year old with the power of Superman. It's sad he's more childish than Damian who's like ten or eleven. I can't wait til Prime pops up again.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Should be pretty soon, I think he's due to show up in Adventure Comics pretty soon. Prime vs. Superboy round 3???

    ReplyDelete
  61. Gonna be awesome, I know he's coming in Adventure Comics but I had to be conspicuous in case you didn't. No spoilers buddy lol, I don't wanna ruin anything for ya. But that's gonna be SO awesome. I wonder if Prime comes back from his universe and if so how.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ha, thanks, I do hate spoilers! Last I remember Prime was depowered, right? It should be interesting to see how he does come back. To be honest I figured we wouldn't be seeing Prime for a while, I'm glad he's coming back already.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yeah, he was in his world, sitting in the basement on the computer eating grilled cheese sandwiches. Basically he was me three years ago. lol. And yeah, I'm glad he's back too, more Prime is always good. I'd love to see his interaction with Wonder Woman or Bruce, I can see him saying the most idiotic yet hilarious things.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ha, I can't imagine Bruce dealing with Prime and his idiotic dialogue!!! That alone would be well worth the price of the comic!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I can see it now... *fade to scene*

Prime: Why are you a Bat? Bat's suck, you should be like, Sharkman or something, or my sidekick Primeboy.

Bruce: Alright, where's my damn Kryptonite ring?

Lol but really I'd love to see some Prime interactions with other people, I can't even imagine what that fool would've said to Darkseid.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ha, I can see Prime opening his mouth to say something to Darkseid and Darkseid just blasting him to smithereens! You know, since his return in Infinite Crisis, Geoff Johns is the only writer to use Prime... I hope some inferior writer doesn't take Prime and ruin his awesomely funny character.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I didn't know that, I really don't trust anyone with Prime now besides Geoff. And hey, Prime could always sing him to death...Yeah, we won't go there. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh no you didn't!!! After reading that last issue of Final Crisis I felt like somebody had taken a crowbar to my head! What an utterly terrible comic that was!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. You sir have been Jason Todd-ed. I know what you mean, I know Supes had tons of powers but i never knew he had Mariah Carey powered singing to the point his vocals can Kill God's. I know Bruce would be so pissed, sacrificing his life so Supes can Sing a lullaby to Darkseid.

    ReplyDelete
  70. HA!!! I can see poor Bruce sitting in that cave thinking, "I shoot Darkseid with a poisonous bullet, but Supes gets to kill him with a song!?!"

    ReplyDelete
  71. I know Bats woulda belted out that song he did on that episode of Justice League. They must never tell Bruce when he returns, because he will be pissed off.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Knowing the way Bruce is, he probably already knows! That dude knows everything!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Good point, I wouldn't be surprised if he was clearing out trenches now in the spot Wayne Manor will be in, and that's why the Batcave is so freaking enormous.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ha! That is EXACTLY the type of thing he'd do too! I can see him travelling across the world leaving items around for himself to regain when he returns to the present!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I was so thinking that, everything pivotal to his life is stuff he'd already left in the past. That's Bruce for you always ready. And when he comes back Im gonna say now he makes a beeline for Selina and proposes, Im calling it.

Also, you know what, I'm gonna say it, I don't think Damian is Bruce's son. I think, hell I'm almost positive that Damian is Jason's son. Because in that issue a while ago when Jason first came back it was discovered that Talia had Jason for two years without Bruce knowing. And honestly I think Damian very well could be Jason Todd's son, It would explain a hell of alot as well.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hmmmm, the proposal thing is a tough one, because I just don't know if Bruce can actually committ to a woman... On one hand it makes total sense, especially after the Heart of Hush storyline, but still, I'm not sure. Then again, maybe he'll propose and she'll turn him down. I could def see that happening, Selina is fiercely independent.

Yeah, the Jason Todd/Damian theory is possible, but I don't know that Talia would actually want to have a kid with anyone besides Bruce, he's like her perfect man or something. Then again, bagging a Robin would be then next best thing, so who knows, you may definitely be right.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I could see Selina turning Bruce down, to keep him in that dark brooding mood he needs to be what he is to Gotham. I could definitely see that.

Yeah, I just feel like for Talia to be such a sensual person, I don't believe she'd basically have a "son" of Batman in her possession for two years and not take advantage of that situation. Then of course if we find out Jason is his father, comes the eventual moment for Damian to be caught in the middle, and save Bruce to earn all the fans trust.
