Marvel Knights Spider-Man #20(Jan. 2006)

Do you remember the "Spider-Man: The Other" storyline? If you don't consider yourself lucky!

  1. I read this three weeks ago...God I hated it. Made no sense, I didn't read Brand New Day but it couldn't have been any worse than that.

  2. Ah, another unanimous decision here!

Jason, trust me, Brand New Day might have been even worse then The Other!!! I'll prob get some grief from other Spidey fans by saying that, but while Other tried to destroy Spidey's origin, One More Day/Brand New Day destroyed Spidey.

  3. I can't bring myself to read it, But I am loving Spidey as of late, I started reading around ASM #588 or so but it's been very good in my opinion, I know you're hesitant but if you can I'd pick it up again X.

  4. You know Jason, you're not the first person to tell me Spidey's comic has been good as of late. And I do miss getting my Spidey-fix every month... I don't know, I was just so enraged with how the One More Day thing was written. Maybe if I drop a book I'm currently reading, I'll give Spidey another shot, I just have to try to block out all the Mephisto stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Gladly it hasn't been mentioned and the characters have been used very well in my opinion, no one's doing things they wouldn't normally do, I hate when people write comics that aren't true to the characters.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, mischaracterizations are prob my biggest CB related pet peeve. I'm def tempted to restart Spidey... Maybe after Blackest Night is finished up I'll have the extra money.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sweet, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed, unless...you know, Mephisto shows up, in that case I'd run.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ha, it's not like I'd fly out to Michigan to get even with you... Or would I???

    ReplyDelete
  9. I believe you just might, you have enough comics to trade for a private Jet. It'd be like Godfather, wake up to a horrible comic in bed. Knowing you probably something By Yost or Bendis.

    ReplyDelete
  10. HA!!! You'd find a bundle of New Avengers comics in your bed! Don't worry though, I'd never trade in my comics, not even for a private jet, so you're safe... For now!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Whew. *wipes sweat from forehead* It could be worse, well not worse then you sending the New Avengers to me, but you could be sending Ramsay to yell at me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Trust me, there is no worse thing I can do to somebody then to force them to read New Avengers! Ha, imagine opening your door and coming face to face with Ramsay! You know the first thing he'd do is curse you out!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, He'd be all "It's about time you opened your F***ing door!" Or if you somehow got Ramsay to read me New Avengers lol, I'm sure that'd be something.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "Yeah, He'd be all "It's about time you opened your F***ing door!" " HA!!! It's funny 'cause it's true! I'm guessing you've seen the finale for Hell's Kitchen right? What did you think?

    ReplyDelete
  15. You know I did, I was happy with Dave winning it, I genuinely laughed when the fat dude dropped the pan when he handed it to Dave then blamed Dave, I mean the guy has ONE ARM to work with. I feel like Dave deserved it though. How about you?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yeah, I def wasn't surprised, especially with how AWFUL that Amanda chick did in Kevin's kitchen. She really sunk any chance he had at winning. Dave had complete control of his kitchen, got his food out quickly, and I think Ramsay was really impressed with him for gutting it out all season with that broken wrist.

I do have to say, I was disappointed that Tenille didn't come back as one of the helpers for the final dinner service. I was hoping to hear her SCREAM at the camera one more time! That fat guy, Robert, was a major pain in the ass all season long. All he did was annoy me. I was so happy when Ramsay finally got rid of him.

I saw during the show that the second season of Hell's Kitchen is out on DVD. Needless to say, I'll be taking a trip down to the mall this weekend in order to find that!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Omg...That Amanda chick was HORRIBLE, I know Kevin was so pissed because she ruined EVERYTHING. Man she was awful. I was also hoping Tenille popped up and I was very disappointed when she didn't, I was also shocked at how quickly That chick who was in the final 3 got her hair done, she looked totally different.

I'll definitely be looking for that season two DVD as well, especially since I don't know who won so I'll be all into that.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah, I really felt bad for Kevin, 'cause Amanda totally screwed him over. But then again, he did pick her for his team, so some of the blame def has to go to him. Ha, yeah, Ariel must have hit the beauty salon once she was eliminated!

    I've got the season 1 DVD(one of the FEW DVD's I own)so eventually I'll def be getting season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah that was a bad pick on Kevin's part, even though Van (I think thats his name) was on fire, he couldn't save Kev's team. And yeah thats what I thought but she literally was gone for less than 24 hours lol.

I'll probably end up getting them both from ebay/amazon or something but I', really anxious to watch them and I'm looking forward to the next season as well.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I had some fun with this page, X. Check it out here.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jason- I think Fox renewed Kitchen Nightmares for another year, hopefully we get some new KN's by the winter. Yeah, next time I order from Amazon I'll def be keeping an eye open for season 2.

Yedna- I'll definitely have to check that out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sweet, I'm on a trading site (Games, Books, DVD's etc.) I'm gonna see if I can get Hells kitchen from there by trading some stuff I don't watch anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I wrote up on the forum that if anyone had anything I'd be willing to trade something from my dvd collection but no answers yet so I may have to buy it, but I don't mind. You have any idea if kitchen Nightmares is on dvd?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah, I think KN is on DVD, but there's the British version, and the American version, and one version has all the episodes, while the other only has half or something equally confusing... There were two different companies that released KN on DVD, so it's a pretty big confusing mess. Don't worry, if you keep watching BBCAmerica, you'll see every episode of the series pretty soon. I've seen every episode like 3 or 4 times already!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lol I noticed that, I've already seen a good chunk in only two or three weeks, One day they even showed three episodes, I was like damn. But I'm not complaining cause Ramsay is entertaining as hell.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dude, I've watched some episodes 4 times, and I'm entertained every time I watch them! I think I could literally watch Ramsay every day and never get bored of the guy!

    ReplyDelete
  27. He's like a mixture of Jericho and Austin into this entertaining chef guy, although I doubt I could eat in his restaurant if he's yelling the ENTIRE time. Plus I'm sure it costs frigging Hundreds for the complimentary Bread lol.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've never been a restaurant type of guy, I can't even remember the last time I was in a legit restaurant, but one of my goals in life is to eat at one of Ramsay's places. I don't care how much it costs(and I bet it's REALLY expensive!)but I'd love to taste some of that weird fancy food he serves.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm with you, the most fancy place I've ever eaten is Red Lobster lol, so I know what you mean. I'd like to eat at a Ramsay place but is it just me or do the portions looks FAR too tiny to justify spending that much cash on them.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can top that, the fanciest place I've ever eaten has been at McDonalds!

In the beginning I thought the same thing about the portion size, but I think you get a bunch of different courses, so it's like eating three or four meals plus a dessert.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Really? Lol, I don't believe you...because there is no way Mcdonalds costs more than eating at a NY Pizza shop. Or so I'd assume anyway.

Ah I didn't really think about that, that sounds cool then. I wonder if Gordon ever gets tired of people trying to get his autograph before/after the restaurant opens and closes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dude, I could get 2 slices and a Pepsi for $5! You could always drop into some corner pizzaria and eat for next to nothing!

I don't know, I doubt I'd get tired of it. I guess that's the price of fame and making MILLIONS of dollars! For a couple of mil, I'd happily deal with autograph seekers!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah but Mcdonalds has the almighty dollar menu. I gotta try some friggin NY Pizza, I'm adding it to my list of things to do.

So would I, but Gordon already seems like a very short-fused guy so I can see him saying "I won't sign ya F***ing autographs!" Before storming through a crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm telling you, the pizza is probably what I miss the most about NYC. The pizzarias up where I'm living now don't even come close to the pizzas down there.

You know, you may be right. You've GOT TO get that Hell's Kitchen season 1 DVD dude! There's one episode where he's at the hot plate getting ready to serve some dishes when these two Hollywood bimbos come up to him and start complaining that they're tired of waiting for their food. These two chicks looked like they were made almost completely out of plastic if you catch my drift, and Ramsay just REAMS them! The stuff he said to them had me laughing for a good minute!

    ReplyDelete
  35. You're making me wanna come to NYC just for pizza then leave and make no other stops.

Wow That sounds awesome, I gotta put some money on my debit card and find that online now, My life feels somewhat empty with no Hells Kitchen on Tuesdays now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ha, I wouldn't mind taking a trip just to hit one of my old pizza stomping grounds. There was this place about 7 or 8 blocks away from my old house that had some AWESOME pizza! The taste was just amazing. Damn, just thinking about it is making my mouth water!

Dude, I know how you feel... But at least BBCAmerica has been putting on two episodes of Kitchen Nightmares every night the past few nights. I actually saw an episode I'd never seen before this past Sunday, which really shocked and delighted me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I actually missed KN today because I was playing Smackdown. Lol i'm really contemplating making a Gordon Ramsay CAW, and since we can make our own storylines I can type up one where he's training guys to be the best wrestlers/Chefs and dropping numerous bleeped out F-Bombs.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That would rule!!! You could make like a mini Hell's Kitchen tournament and have Ramsay as the final guy to beat! Of course Ramsay's dialogue would be the best part of it all!

    ReplyDelete
  39. That sounds like a ton of fun. I may just do that, I could throw in a cocky guy like Jericho, a wise guy like Christian. Of course The Rock would be involved. Any other ideas on who we should have clash with Ramsay? WWE Monday Night Raw with Ramsay.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Aren't they doing guest hosts on RAW nowadays? Can you imagine if Ramsay was a guest host? THAT would get me watching wrestling again in a heartbeat!

I think I'd have Ramsay as a heel(he'd be perfect in that role!), so I'd hook him up with a stable to watch his back. Maybe I'd give him a diva along with a tag team as his back-up. I'd have him and his stable(the Kitchen Nightmares!)just run roughshod over the entire roster, picking up championship belts from guys like Rock and Jericho(mainly because of the awesome promos they'd have!)while building up a strong face challenger to face him down the road. Maybe I'd have the face as a plucky underdog type(a face CM Punk perhaps), that way you could build to an awesome Ramsay/Punk match at Wrestlemania for the title. Wow, I really like that idea!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yep, I so thought of that when I was typing it. But they can't be PG with Ramsay dropping F-Bombs all the time, even if it was bleeped. They had Snoop Dogg on Monday, made it seem like he was gonna light up some weed, they cut to tech. difficulties as a joke then they cut back and he was lighting scented candles.

See...You need SVR because I'd download that storyline in a second. Now I'm anxious for you to get it, lol. Punk/Ramsay would be gold, and the Ramsay and Jericho/Rock promo's would be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It be awesome if they went back to TV-14 just for the one night Ramsay was there. I wonder how Ramsay does television interviews? I mean do they have to censor half of what he says or is he on his best behavior?

Imagine all the insults Ramsay and Rock would hurl at each other!?!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Weird...I replied to this twice and neither one posted. Basically I said that'd be awesome, and I'm sure Ramsay's cool in interviews because he sounds relaxed when he does his Kitchen Nightmares VO's.

I'd love to ee Ramsay run in with either Rock, Jericho, Punk, or Stone Cold. The Expletives would fly with Ramsay and The Rattlesnake.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ramsay's a weird case though, sometimes it really seems like he CAN'T stop cursing! Have you seen the episode of KN where he's trying to help out this Irish mother and son with their restuarant and the son keeps sneaking booze while he's cooking? Ramsay challenges the guy not to drink and Ramsay says he won't curse for the whole dinner service, or he'll put money in some piggy bank. Ramsay must have lost a small fortune to that piggy bank, the dude just couldn't stop swearing!

Ramsay and Austin would be sweet. You know, Ramsay missed his real calling in life, he really could have been a great wrestler. He's tall, intimidating and has off the charts charisma. Dude could have been another Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lmao no I haven't seen that, it sounds hilarious. I'm sure Ramsay ended up getting the place outta debt with just his swear jar!

I agree with that, dude's like 6'2'', charismatic, he could play an amazing heel or that likable Heelish Face like Austin or Triple H. Hell he could STILL just go be a manager, I could see them pairing him up with William Regal right off the bat.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, I think Ramsay would start out as a full out heel before the crowd turned him into a heelish face like Rock a few years back. He'd be so funny that it would be hard to actually boo him!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah I'm sure he'd start out as a Heel as well, I could see him teaming up with Edge or Orton. I'd love for them to bring him in as a General Manager, maybe park him on ECW just so I have a reason to watch that besides Christian.

Lol Imagine if Ramsay had a face turn and joined DX, I can imagine him in a green and black chef's jacket doing the suck it sign. It sounds so absurd that I can't help laughing at it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ramsay as a GM would be a stroke of genius. I think more then any other role, that would be the perfect spot for him. Ramsay as a heel GM would rule all.

The visual of Ramsay doing the crotch chop in a green and black chef's jacket saying "Suck it" with his accent is almost too funny for words!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I could so see him as the GM Bischoff was a few years ago, the crowd booing the building off the place whenever he showed up. He'd probably be even better than Bischoff at being a heel GM.

Lol imagine if he needed muscle, so they built up this big hype that he was calling in a special enforcer, and every week they built it up more and more then it just turned out to be Tenille. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dude, how about Ramsay comes in and manages Tenille! Imagine the both of them going to the E!

Bischoff was an awesome GM. I never watched the old WCW, I was firmly on the WWE's side during the Monday Night Wars, so I was largely unaware of Bischoff's work, but he really made that role his.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Lol Tenille would be Women's champ in like weeks. Imagine her slamming one of the skinnier divas in the company like Michelle McCool or someone. Then Ramsay would be outside the ring heeling it up, pulling people's legs if they got too close. Man someone needs to call Ramsay up and offer him a job.

Same here, I'd only watched WCW one time and I didn't care for it, I was strictly WWF/WWE. I didn't even know who he was but that dude did some of the most memorable things on RAW, and is probably the best GM to date. I remember reading his book, I was bored to tears. Definitely not one of the best wrestling books I've read.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tenille as Women's Champ would be flat out awesome!

Yeah, I used to watch both the WWF(every single show)and occasionally an episode of WCW here and there, but my heart was with the WWF. When Monday Nitro debuted, Vince did this big interview in Raw Magazine where he painted himself as a victim of Ted Turner and WCW, and that he was a regular joe, and WCW was this evil monolithic corporation. Still being a kid/mark, I brought Vince's speil hook, line and sinker, and from that moment on I would NEVER turn on any of WCW's programming... Damn, Vince got me good there!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'd mark out for Tenille winning the womens championship, Ramsay could be like Jim Cornette style interfering except his "Tennis Racket" would be a Spatula or something.

Wow, Vince is a very manipulative man. Lol If WCW did anything it proved that competition makes a better product, thats why I wish TNA would actually get better, to force the WWE to stop slacking on their writing.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ramsay interfering in matches with a spatula=Pure Genius!

Yeah, it's unfortunate that the guys running TNA have absolutely NO clue as to how to run an entertaining wrestling program. Their idea seems to be to bring in all the old WWE cast-offs instead of building up their own roster. I can remember some awesome Samoa Joe-AJ Styles-Daniels matches not all that long ago, then everything went down the drain...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lol I can imagine someone taking it from him and he's on his knees begging for them not to hit him with it.

Yep, you're right. My first day of wrestling school, Sabin & Shelley, the Motor City Machine Guns were there, who'd met prior. Those dudes don't even watch TNA and they WORK there. Thats how bad the shows are. It's basically the WWE Retirement home, which is sad when they got Joe,Styles, Daniels, Angle and alot more guys that are amazing in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  56. HA! The fact that they don't even watch TNA is both funny and terrible at the same time! Yeah, the Machine Guns are the type of guys TNA SHOULD be pushing! I'd have a guy like Sabin beat all of the old WWE guys so he can make a name for himself.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Exactly, you'd think with their main eventers all in their forties they'd push guys like Sabin and Lethal and put them over in the long run. TNA is just becoming WCW again.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, that last line is sad, but true... Hell, don't they even have Vince Russo booking in TNA still? TNA is so much like WCW it's scary!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yep they even got Russo. TNA is sad, and outta all days for this discussion, today they signed Hulk Hogan. :|

    ReplyDelete
  60. Get outta here, no fricking way they signed Hogan! Jeez, just when you think they can't sink any lower... Now really, how is that going to help matters? Maybe they'll get a fraction of a bump in the ratings, but with the crap they have on that show, they'll just lose any fans who tune in out of curiousity to see Hogan. I just hope that Hogan doesn't wrestle!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. You know their gonna have Hogan go over AJ Styles for the belt. Rumor is they also brought him in as a writer. Have they learned NOTHING from WCW?

Also their trying to sign Flair.

    ReplyDelete
  62. HA!!!! That last line made me laugh the hardest! So, in other words, in two months or so, we'll have 50 something Hogan fighting 50(60?)something Flair for the TNA title! Hmm, what's that sound I hear, is that the sound of the deathrattle for TNA?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lol basically, it's sad. I promise you before the year is over, yeah thats right, in two months, Hogan is gonna go over AJ, Samoa Joe, Daniels and alot more people.

God TNA sucks, somebody send the WWE to get Angle before that place explodes outta pure stupidity.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ha, yeah, Hogan'll prob put himself over AJ for the title in his very first match!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Lol and you KNOW he's gonna injure himself, that guys nowhere near as conditioned as Flair or Steamboat, at least they can put on good matches. Hogan just punches, kicks, legdrops. I'd LOVE to see AJ or Joe get a clean win over Hogan.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ha, the only place you'll ever see AJ or Joe going over Hogan clean is in you dreams man, 'cause that's NEVER happening! I will say one thing about the Hogan signing though, it actually has people talking. Hell, WE'RE talking about it right? I've got to admit, I'm kind of curious to see exactly what TNA is going to do him Hogan. I'm sure it's going to be interesting... In a car wreck sort of way.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Lol well when you're right you're right. I just hate how they say their pushing some new superstar initiative they say, where the younger stars get a time to shine then they sign Hogan's old ass.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ha, "new superstar initiative"! Yeah, sure! Well, then again I guess TNA could just say that to them Hogan IS a new superstar!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Lol but he was there before. I SPECIFICALLY remember Jarrett smashing a guitar on his head while watching TNA. Maybe he hadn't wrestled there but that counts in my book.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Oh yeah, that was in Japan if I'm correct, and it led to absolutely nothing. Huh, they can't even say he's a new superstar then. Ah TNA... What are we going to do about you?

    ReplyDelete
  71. And as if they couldn't be MORE WCW, today they signed....You guessed it. Eric Bischoff. So they have Hogan, Nash, and Bischoff. Someone put the closed sign on that building now.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Heh... Hey, all they need now is Scott Hall and they can just run the NWO angle all over again! Hey, why not, I mean if they don't want to give any of the younger guys a chance they might as well redo the NWO angle word for word. They could just take an old script from Nitro and copy the entire thing from start to finish! The sad thing is the fact that the WWE REALLY needs SOME kind of competition to shake them from their funk, and it seems like that competition isn't going to be coming from TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm sure if Vince didn't own the name they would. But now we have the Dawn of the oWo, Old World Order.

That sucks because TNA has SO much potential in terms of Talent to spice WWE up and make them actually produce good shows but sadly TNA won't grow if they keep making dumb decisions like wasting money on immobile legends. Now there's rumors going around Hogan wants to bring in The Nasty Boys and Brutus Beefcake. :|

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ha, that's perfect, the oWo...

Yeah, I used to watch TNA religiously in the beginning, back when they used to run those weekly shows on PPV. They had/have such talent there, but they just keep squandering it with terrible booking and loust business decisions.

Yeah, I'm sure all of Hogan's hanger-ons will start popping up now, the Nasties, Brutus and Jimmy Hart.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah, I started watching them when they started coming on FSN, I almost crapped bricks the first time I saw Petey Williams do the Canadian Destroyer and now they don't even have him anymore because they let him go which sucks because he can work and he's a nice guy. Met him before, he's MAD short though, like 5'4''.

Of course, it's gonna be like watching Hogan Knows Best. Brooke is gonna start managing AJ Styles or something stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Damn, the first time I saw the Canadian Destroyer, it TOTALLY blew my mind! That is one wicked crazy move!

You know, you're probably right. Get ready for a whole mess of Hogan powerplays in TNA now.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Dude, you remember Scott D'more? The big dude who used to manage Team Canada? At TNA's first house show in Detroit, He did the Canadian Destroyer on Petey Williams. It was outrageous!

You know it, AND they say Nick is training to be a wrestler. Nick pins Samoa Joe to become TNA Champion in Summer 2010, ya heard it here first. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  78. Absolutely no fricking way did that happen. You're kidding me right? Yeah, you've got to be, because I can't even picture that visual!

I really dug Scott D'more when he led Team Canada. I've always been a big fan of managers though, I really wish the E would bring them back. I can remember back in the day when I was like 6, 7 years old and you had Mr. Fuji, Slick, Jimmy Hart and of course Bobby Heenan all running around managing guys. A good manager could add so much to a guy with no charisma. Plus the really good managers could get some monster heat from the crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Dude...I am 100% Serious, If I wasn't there to see it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. I forget who they wrestled but Scott was gonna throw powder in someone's eyes, but it got in his, he was blinded and grabbed around until he found someone (Petey) then he hit him with the Canadian Destroyer. No lie, Scott D'more hit the Canadian Destroyer on Petey Williams.

Yeah, there aren't too many good managers today, the best in recent memory have been like Paul Heyman who's good at EVERYTHING, James Mitchell, um..Matt Striker was good but I like him more as a commentator. It sucks dude, managers add alot, especially the four you named were amazing. And of course Jim Cornette.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Wow, why didn't they ever run that on TV? The thought of D'more hitting the Destroyer on Petey is just crazy.

Agreed, Heyman is/was awesome. I forgot about the Matt Striker/Big Daddy V run, but yeah, Striker was real good at the manager role. He's a great mouthpiece for big, quiet guy.

Oh yeah, I can't forget Corney and that legendary tennis racquet! I don't know what was more deadly, Cornette's racquet or Sensational Sherri's high heel shoe!

    ReplyDelete
  81. No idea man, all I know is it's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in a wrestling ring. He got some air too.

I'd love for Matt Striker to be paired up with someone like old Kane when he wore the mask. Or Vladimir Kozlov. I think he'd also be great if they let him be a Heel announcer, like Bobby Heenan, or King used to be.

Man...both of those two were awesome, and both managed the Heart Break Kid. See Shawn had numerous managers, that just shows how important they are.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah, they should let Striker go full out heel as an announcer. I hate the charactiture King has become nowadays. He used to be a great heel announcer. Now he's just an annoying old dude who oogles women... Heenan and Jesse Ventura were my two favs though. I used to love the way Jesse would openly criticize everything Hulk Hogan would do, all while applauding the heel whenever they'd do the same thing.

Huh, Shawn's one guy you'd think wouldn't need a manager! He can talk circles around most guys.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yeah, i was just having the exact same discussion. King was AWESOME as a Heel Announcer and yeah now he's just a old dude who always fake laughs with Cole and yells about puppies.

Striker has that raw charisma to where he can make you dislike him with just a few words. That's really rare, especially in the WWE outside of the vet's like Edge and Triple H.

Right? He's one of the best promo guys in the business, as is Jericho and both have had managers. Which shows that they can teach the superstars how to be more comfortable giving promos.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I used to love Striker and his condescending teacher act. He could really get some good heat from the crowd. He just has that way about him where you just want to hit him. Not only because of his words, but with his mannerisms. It's too bad he's announcing, he'd be better served as an in-ring talent.

Shawn has had a lot of managers too. Like you said, that just goes to show how valuable a good manager can be.

    ReplyDelete
  85. He's pretty good in-ring too but I guess they couldn't find anything to do with him. Much like Al Snow and Colt Cabana in his short WWE run, you can be good but just be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think sometimes you just need a good manager to get the guy comfortable with delivering promo's, that worked for alot of people in the past, especially when Gangrel was a mouthpiece for Edge and Christian and both of those guys cut wonderful promos.

Other times you just need a amanger to get someone over. Shelton Benjamin is amazing in the ring but his promo's aren't good, but if you have him heel and have someone like Striker or Heyman managing him he'd get over in a huge way.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yeah, Shelton Benjamin is the type of guy who is just made for a manager. Let somebody else worry about the talking and out of ring stuff, so Shelton can just concentrate on tearing stuff up in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Exactly. I always thought Shelton would be great with someone like Jericho backing him up. Because he's such a great talker, if those two had an alliance, not necessarily a tagteam but if Jericho had a stable of young guys to take under his wing, kinda like Trips did with Evolution. And he got Shelton, Morrison and Jack Swagger it'd be GOLD.

    ReplyDelete
  88. See, something like that would be HUGE for Raw. You can have Jericho monopolize most of the promo time, but still allow the other guys the opportunity to say a few lines as well as get some quality TV time with a real pro who they'd learn TONS from. I'd put the strap on Jericho and let him carry the company with that stable you have listed. After a while, let them totally implode, with Shelton and Morrison feuding over a secondary title and Jericho and Swagger battling for the championship.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Exactly. That way you have a awesome leader/talker, you have the technical based mat wrestler in Shelton, the Blue chipper in Morrison and the power guy in Swagger. And exactly like you said, Morrison and Shelton would have 5 star matches over the US/IC title and Swagger would be perfect to move to a main eventer.

And any mixture of those 3 young guys would be perfect if they got the tagtitles together. Imagine Shelton and Swagger as tag champs. Amazing team. I'd LOVE to see those 4 in a stable, it'd make RAW worth watching again.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, a group like that you could do so much with. Secondary titles, tag belts, mid to upper-midcard feuds, with Jericho being the glue holding it all together. Damn, if we can see that is an awesome idea, why can't the WWE?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Because WWE is a horrible company right now. They have Cena vs. HHH vs. HBK in a week at the ppv, for the WWE Title....which used to be important from what I understood. Yet those three are literally spending more time arguing about the midget dude Hornswoggle. I kid you not...they have argued about Hornswoggle for three weeks straight and only mentioned the title once. Now that's HORRIBLE booking.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Damn, that sounds frigging terrible. I guess that's the kind of crap that'll be going on until the E decides to go back to TV-14. How the hell is Hornswoggle even involved in the championship picture?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  93. See...I didnt even wanna tell you because it's that bad. He'd been coming out in DX Gear crotch chopping, they kept telling him to stop. They "sued" him for gimmick infringement. Then he convinced whoever the guest host was that week to make a triple threat match somehow. So now Hornswoggle runs to Cena whenever DX try to pursue legal action...I feel dumber for having typed that out.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Wow, I mean seriously, wow... Who could possibly think that was a good idea? I think my IQ dropped like 10 points just reading about that! So does that mean HHH and HBK are playing pseudo-heels or something? How is the crowd even reacting to something that dumb?

    ReplyDelete
  95. No...their comedy faces and its probably the dumbest way o book a 3-way match with all faces that I've ever seen. The crowd doesnt even care anymore, there's like no reaction to that storyline. Sad thing is, Cena has no one else to feud with so this may go on for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'll admit that it's probably uber-hard to book a 3-way match featuring all faces, but come on! The only thing I can think is that the E is afraid that the crowd will just boo the hell out of Cena before and during the match(he is facing the ultra popular DX), so they're hoping that by sticking Hornswoggle with him at least the 10 year olds will be cheering for him... Other then that, I can't figure what the hell they're thinking with that angle...

    ReplyDelete
  97. That's probably exactly why. I could see that, which is a very good explanation, although stupid. If only they could have I don't know a good idea, and build it as three men who have respect for one another but all wanna be the best. Cena wants to retain, Shawn wants to prove he can still be champion and Triple H just misses the gold.

100 posts coming up for the 5th time. Five time, somebody call up Booker T.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yeah your idea sounds like the perfect way to book a 3-way face match. Simple, easy to understand motivation for all three guys. The only problem would once again be the fact that like 95% of the crowd would be firmly behind HBK and HHH, and booing Cena, which isn't what Vince wants for Hulk Hogan 2.0, AKA SuperCena. To me the toughest thing about this match is a way to keep the crowd from completely turning on Cena. If I was booking, I'd be teasing a Cena heel turn like crazy, just to gauge how the crowd reacts to it.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah and they'd definitely react. What they did last night was have DX (Triple H) Pedigree Hornswoggle, sadly that only resulted in a few boo's so I find it hard to believe that the crowd is gonna cheer Cena just because Trips beat up swoggle, even if he is a big kid favorite.

I definitely see your point, the only way they can keep Cena getting cheered is if they change his gimmick or give him a partner that's super over, last night they teamed him up with Undertaker.

    ReplyDelete
  100. How the HELL did HHH manage to pedigree a midget?!? That must have been one weak looking pedigree... Wow, it sounds like the sooner this match is over and done, the better, cause it seems the entire situation just keeps getting dumber and dumber...

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yeah...but he had the BIGGEST Smile on his face when you did it. Youtube it...because it's so dumb. Then DX carried him out on a tiny stretcher...Luckily this match is over Sunday but I wouldn't be surprised if this went until the end of the year.

Oh and this Kofi Randy feud is going great, they had a huge brawl in MSG Monday, and the entire crowd was on their feet chanting Kofi's name. If this push continues the way it should Kofi could be a huge main event star.

    ReplyDelete
  102. How can't you have a huge smile on your face when you're pedigreeing a midget? It's just so stupid! You really think they'll drag that feud on for another month? I'd think they're only doing this feud to(Finally)turn HHH back heel again.

It be awesome if the company actually got behind Kofi and were serious about pushing him to the main event scene, I just have such a hard time believing they're actually going to elevate somebody new... I keep waiting for you to post me about Kofi getting squashed by HHH or something.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I don't know man, because now it's like, with Orton busy, and DX done feuding with Dibiase and Rhodes, there's no one else for them to do. Even if they turn Trips, that leave Shawn with no one to feud with, unless it's Trips and if so that leave Cena with no one to feud with. So their gonna take the easy way out and continue on, or give Cena someone like Swagger who isn't ready to be headlining ppv's yet.

Lol I'm hoping I don't have to. As much as it surprises me this feud has been booked VERY VERY well so far. I have every doubt in the world that this won't work out well for Kofi like it didn't for MVP but I'm really hoping they push the guy because he's awesome in ring and the crowd loves him.

    ReplyDelete
  104. How about HHH turns full blown heel on the Raw after Survivor Series, and totally destroys HBK, you know, just kills him with the sledgehammer. From there HBK can take a break for say a month or two and heel HHH can feud with Cena through the Royal Rumble. Then have HBK come back which would set up Cena vs whoever wins the Rumble and HHH vs HBK at Mania.

See, the thing I don't like about my scenario(HHH turning heel)is that if he's a heel, he's going to start taking out top faces, and I can totally see the E building Kofi up only to let HHH squash him on some episode of Raw to give HHH all of Kofi's heat.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'd be very happy with that. Because Trips could say that DX has been to lax and he should've walked in to Survivor Series with a serious state of mind and turn on Shawn. Because HBK always performs wonderfully at Mania and he could pull the old HHH outta him.

Ahhhh No!! Just when things were getting good. The thing is...If you're a face on RAW and H is a heel you're gonna get squashed, but if you're a Face on SD and Taker is there you're never gonna elevate. Just send Trips and Taker to ECW so I dont have to watch either...and move Christian over to Smackdown

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yeah, I can almost hear H's promo about how DX and midgets had distracted him from his ultimate goal, regaining the championship. That way when HBK does come back and cost HHH the title at say Royal Rumble, HHH wants to kill HBK for costing him the gold, and HBK wants to kill HHH for putting him out of action. It's so simple it practically books itself, which is why Hornswoggle will probably emerge from Survivor Series as the champion.

Exactly. Heel HHH on Raw is a horrible thing for any upper-midcard faces. Say hello to squashville Kofi! HHH and Taker on ECW. If only!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Exactly, I'm hoping that stuff happens now because If it doesn't I'll be disappointed in their writing. That really is the best way to book that match, and Trips and HBK could be an awesome Mania match, especially if it's NOT for the title. Guys that big don't need the belt to draw a crowd.

Hornswoggle as champion wouldn't surprise me as sad as that sounds, remember he IS the last ever Cruiserweight champ. A belt held by people like Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and the late great Eddie Guerrero.

And there's no other Faces to squash besides HBK, Cena, and Kofi. But i think Swagger may be turning face soon.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Yeah, I totally agree that HBK and HHH don't need to be fighting for a title. If booked correctly, their feud should be red-hot without a title anyway.

Man, I bet Swagger is begging creative not to turn him!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yeah, but I'd love to have HBK get another title run. I'm kinda conflicted on who I'd have beat him for it, it'd have to be someone who can hang but I'd want it to be their first championship win too so they could be immensely over afterwards.

Lol so he doesn't get SQUASHED by the game? Definitely. Then again if he stays heel he's stuck under the glass ceiling that is Triple H's main event reign.

    ReplyDelete
  110. A guy like Jericho would be the perfect type of guy HBK should beat for one more title run. They'd have an awesome build-up, a great match and Jericho would be able to take the loss of the title without losing any momentum.

True. I guess HHH as the main heel on Raw is a no-win situation for everybody, especially up and coming guys like Swagger and Kofi...

    ReplyDelete
  111. I agree with you once again. I feel like I say that every day now. I don't even know what else they could do in a feud but I'd gladly accept to see those two put on a few five star matches. During the HBK title reign he could defend against guys like Orton, Edge, Christian before dropping it to a first timer.

You'd think guys on ECW would be easier to elevate like Shelton and Hurricane Helms considering there's a shallow talent pool, yet the main eventers are still Christian, Dreamer, Regal and Kozlov & Ezekial Jackson.

    ReplyDelete
  112. "I agree with you once again. I feel like I say that every day now." Feel free to say that as much as you like, I don't mind. ;)

I'd stick HHH in there too, you know that he'd bring his A-game if he was challenging for HBK's title. Hmm, if this actually happened right now, who would you choose to take the strap from HBK(and you can't say Kofi!)?

By this point, I don't think Shelton is ever going to get elevated past the midcard. If they haven't pushed him to the main event scene by now, let's face it, he's never getting there, which is a real shame. As for Hurricane, he's prob 4 inches/75 pounds too small to ever get a serious run around the top of the card. Unfair, but prob true.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yeah HBK and HHH would be great, I think when Trips is in there with someone he knows can out perform him he goes all out.

Lol you knew I was gonna go to Kofi eh? Well If not him I'd use that to put over Swagger. I'm sure Swagger and HBK would steal the show and he definitely has the tools to be a top guy and a win over HBK would establish that. Who would you pick?

Agreed with both of those. Shelton got a little time to shine on Team Morrison at SS but yeah, he's one of the great in ring guys, no personality that are doomed to mid-card status. And Hurricane has it all but yeah he's too small, unless you're Rey (who only won the belt because of Eddie's passing) you're not winning that belt if you've held the Cruiser title since they brought it to WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yeah, I knew you were going to go with Kofi, 'cause that's exactly who I'd have picked! I think I'd also go with Swagger. When I was still watching, and he was on ECW, you could just tell Swagger had "future star" written all over him. He's got everything a guy in the E needs to succeed nowadays. A win over HBK would def solidify him as a main event player.

Yep, I have to say I completely agree with you this time. Holding the Cruiserweight title in the WWE is like the kiss of death. It means you'll never get a serious look at the top, except for Rey(and we all know why he got the strap)and Jeff Hardy, and with how over he was with most of the fanbase, the WWE just couldn't ignore him.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Exactly. Everything about Swagger is perfect, size, wrestling ability, the way he always smiles but it looks so arrogant. Everything about that dude is perfect for wrestling. I think if he gave it his all he could be the next Kurt Angle and that's a HUGE compliment. Plus HBK putting him over would be epic for his career.

Jeff actually never had the Cruiser belt. He had the old Lightweight Championship but never the Cruiser. But Matt did and check him out. Matt's had all the tools to be champ for a while but he's stuck in the midcard.

Hopefully that doesn't happen to our boy Swagger because he said he wasn't gonna lose any more matches in 2009 2 months ago and he's jobbed four times in the past three weeks. So..yeah for some reason they did that and killed all his credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Oh, I agree with you 100% when it comes to Swagger. I also saw him as the next Kurt Angle, like Brock Lesner could have/should have been. Going over HBK for his first title reign would be AMAZING for his career.

Really? I could have sworn Jeff held the Cruiser belt at one point, but I'll definitely side with you on this one, you're def more of the wrestling expert then I am.

There's another example of the E just not making any sense. One of the last Raw's I watched was this years draft, and I was baffled as to why they'd move Swagger over to Raw from ECW. If you wanted to move him to one of the main shows, why not move him to Smackdown? At this point in his young career, he def shouldn't be stuck wasting away in Raw's midcard.

    ReplyDelete
  117. And in recent bad news, it's been reported WWE is supposedly giving up on pushing Swagger, which explains why he's been jobbing recently. I think it's dumb to give up on a guy who's only been there a year, hell Cena wasn't main eventing within a year and neither was any of their top guys with the exceptions of Angle and Brock in the past.

Yep, I was sure he wasn't but I looked it up to make sure. All he's grabbed is the Lightweight belt. But yeah, the cruiser title is kinda a curse in the WWE.

EXACTLY! Dude...That's why I'm shocked Kofi hasn't been buried yet to be honest. You bring em in on ECW, send them to Smackdown to develop with some good workers like Y2J, Morrison, vets like Finlay, then when their over send em to RAW. Makes perfect sense.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Wow, why would you give up on Swagger already? I'm not saying to give the guy the title next week or anything like that, but he should be a fixture in the upper midcard, feuding with established vets before giving him a test run at the top a little after WM next year. That just goes to show you the insanity in the E. Let's push the almost 50 year old Undertaker while burying what looks like a good young talent in Swagger.

Yeah, that seems like the smartest path. I like how you made sure to put "yet" after the Kofi being buried statement. I hate to say it, but it's just a matter of time before some genius in the company decides Kofi "isn't ready" yet and he gets depushed...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Exactly. I can't believe they'd do that. If he was on Smackdown I'm sure he'd be Upper Midcard atleast, feuding for the IC Title with Morrison or getting put over by Kane. They may be making a huge mistake if they turn Swagger into a jobber. Plus it makes the ECW Title look weak. Chavo, Swagger, Matt Hardy, Kane, Mark Henry all former ECW Champs all jobbing.

Yep, that's the sad thing, I wouldn't be surprise if they pulled an MVP and got Kofi super over before burying him and throwing him in a tagteam with a Mark Henry-esque wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Can the ECW title actually look any weaker? :)
Seriously though, the ECW title can't be ranked any higher then the US/IC straps, can it?

You know, I could see that happening(Kofi stuck in tag team hell)way more then I can see his push continuing, which really sucks. Let's hope the E doesn't make the same mistake with Kofi they've made with dozens of other guys.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Nah, It's more of a Lifetime Achievement award, unless you're Swagger, Punk or Morrison.

Saw a report today that Kofi's being pushed as their top African American superstar. I really don't mind as long as it gets some new blood in the main event and he doesn't get stuck in midcard purgatory.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yeah, you're totally right about the ECW strap. It seems to be for young, up-and-coming guys or for old vets who were never good enough to hold one of the real world heavyweight belts.

I think it would be great if the E finally gave a homegrown African American wrestler a serious shot at the top of the card. Besides Rock(who was half Samoan)the E has never been all that good at pushing African Americans in the main event scene. I def gotta agree with the second part of your last paragraph though. I don't care what color Kofi is, at least he's somebody different! Anything is better then seeing HHH/Orton/Cena fighting again!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Yeah, I agree the only African-American champs have been Rock who youn pointed out as Half Samoan, Booker T who was playing the snobby King Bookah at the time, plus he's WCW so not homegrown and Lashley & Henry who both held the consolation prize known as the ECW Title.

Yeah, it's at the point where Kofi may be getting pushed just because he's black but I as a black man could truly care less. The dude is amazing in the ring, has a big following so far and he LOVES the business. you can see it in his eyes everytime he walks out there, and with so many guys that were handed the strap like Lesnar and just left I'm happy with someone deserving being pushed to a top spot. And yeah the less of the WWE's Trinity the better. Here's hoping being black keeps Kofi from jobbing to Trips lol.

    ReplyDelete
  124. You may be correct about Kofi only getting a push because of his color, but right now, I'm just glad to see ANYBODY new getting a good sized push.

"Here's hoping being black keeps Kofi from jobbing to Trips lol." HA! Man, I hope that does the trick!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Yeah, outside of Kofi only Morrison is getting a push. And Maybe Shelton, they announced at the ppv (which is now called TLC) Shelton will be wrestling Christian for the Title in a Ladder match, which should be awesome. Other matches include Sheamus vs. Cena in a Table Match for the WWE Title, Unified Tag champs Jeri-Show vs. DX in a TLC match and Batista vs. Taker for the World Title in a chairs match whatever the hell that is...

If it does maybe Kofi can sue for racial discrimination? :P lol

    ReplyDelete
  126. Shelton/Christian in a ladder match sounds like it could def be the match that steals the show. Maybe this tag match will FINALLY be the end of DX(for now anyway)and the beginning of the HHH/HBK feud. A chairs match??? Wha?!? Why not just call it a no DQ match?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yeah I'm hoping Shelton wins the Consolation Pri...I mean ECW Title so Christian can go to Smackdown or something. That match is gonna be awesome though. I'm also hoping this is the split of DX, now if they just add Orton and Kofi I'll be watching that show.

Yeah, because the ppv is called TLC i guess they needed a TLC match, a Table, a Ladder and a Chairs...match. They haven't said the rules but I'm assuming it'll be chairs only. Sounds dumb, should've just been a normal match. Batista and Taker don't need stips.

    ReplyDelete
  128. It'd be sweet if Shelton FINALLY won a heavyweight title, even if it is only the ECW joke belt. You'd think they almost have to add Kofi-Orton to that card, no?

I don't know, last time I saw Taker wrestle(a few months back)he REALLY looked slow. Maybe it's best if they do add a lot of stips to his match, that way they can cover up the fact that the guy can't do nearly as much as he used to be able to. Maybe he's gotten healthier since I last saw him wrestle, but man, he looked awful...

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'd love if Shelton got the win he deserves for once. Yeah It looks like that's gonna join the card and probably Morrison defending his IC Title and Miz defending his US Title againg MVP or Mark Henry.

You may be right, I think he lost alot after that knee surgery. But the match he had with HBK this year was epic, if you ever get a chance you gotta check it out. But you're probably right because Taker's slowing down and Batista isn't the best at selling in a match.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Totally agree about Shelton. The E should give him the strap and let him just take over on ECW for a few months, just to give him a real chance to shine.

Yeah, everybody says the same thing about that match with HBK. I guess Taker can still pull it together during WM. That's actually why I much rather Batista as a heel, 'cause his selling is really pretty embarassing. At least if he's built up as a monster heel, he really doesn't have to sell anything.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I think he's be a good ECW Champ, he can have some good matches with current people on the roster like Regal, Hurricane, and a few of the other guys.

Exactly, that's why I prefer he works as a Heel but Undertaker isn't one for selling much with his Deadman gimmick. If you had to book Batista strong for an eventual title loss to Morrison how would you book it while making them both look credible?

    ReplyDelete
  132. Ha! Yeah, heel Batista and Taker are like this horrible black hole of non-selling. I can almost see them just whacking each other with chairs and nobody falling down.

Damn, that's a tough one. It would be a tall order to have a strong heel Batista lose to Morrison while keeping both guys strong.First off, I'd probably have the match in a cage or something, that way Batista doesn't actually have to take the pinfall. From there, it would be a matter of Morrison taking a beating, but using his speed and intelligence to make it out of the cage. In a case like that, you almost have to book the smaller, faster guy as WAY smarter then the bigger, monster heel.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Lmao, That'd be hilarious, just a standstill like rock em sock em robots with them just blasting one another until the ref declares it a double draw.

That's pretty clever, because in a cage you can still have Batista be devastating and Morrison be crafty and quick, even have Batista cocky and have a chance to walk out the door but go back to dish out more pain. I haven't said this to alot of people but you definitely know your wrestling sir!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Thanks man, that means a lot coming from somebody who has an obvious wealth of knowledge about the business.

Even though I'm kind of pissed at the direction the E has gone lately, wrestling is pretty much in my blood. I've been practically raised on wrestling. I was 7 or 8 when I saw my first match, and from that point on, I was hooked. I've read and watched so much wrestling that's it's really pretty crazy. I'm still hoping for the day Vince gets his act together and starts putting on stuff people(besides HHH)actually wants to see, not midgets and the same matches over and over and over again.

    ReplyDelete
  135. No problem man, gotta give credit where it's due.

Yeah, so am I man. Wrestling is funny how I got into it, my Grandma had me watch my first match ever, and I was like nine. And I was hooked even though the first match I ever saw was The Godfather vs. Jeff Jarrett. Lol not a great introduction but I was hooked. Gotta love good wrestling. You ever check out Ring of Honor?

    ReplyDelete
  136. First match I ever saw was Hogan/Warrior from WM 6, and I just remember being floored as a little kid. It all seemed so much larger then life. Plus the match was good, and the crowd was just awesome. It was so easy to get really immersed in that match. Jarrett/Godfather?!? Wow, that's a strange match to start out your fandom!

No, I've never been able to see any ROH, although I've always been interested to. If they were to ever score a TV deal, I'd def give them a try. Unfortunately, as long as ROH is PPV/DVD releases I doubt I'll have the chance to watch them.

    ReplyDelete
  137. See you got an awesome memorable match. I can see the aura surrounding that. I remember I was over my Grandma's house on a Sunday and I guess SD had been preempted because of a game and I'm scrolling through Channels and my grandma's like stop it on wrestling. I see this dude covered in tats dressed like a pimp and a guy with a guitar like a weapon and for some reason I just couldn't look away. Then I eventually saw Rock, DX and Jericho and I was hooked.

Dude ROH was wonderful back when they had Gabe writing. That's great wrestling. If you ever get a chance to see some of the older stuff with Punk, Samoa Joe, Colt Cabana, and some of the bigger names you're in for a hell of a treat. I got so many dvd's, hell if you ever wanna check one out let me know and I'll ship you one in the mail. No lie bro. That's just good athletic wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Huh, that's def one way to look at your first match. If that was the first match I'd ever seen, I prob would have been pretty amazed as well!

See, I'd hate to get a ROH DVD and wind up getting hooked on it, 'cause then I'd be collecting DVD's like crazy! That's why I haven't bothered to find any older ROH stuff, because if I did, that would wind up taking money out of my comic book budget. If they'd get a TV deal, it would be a different story, 'cause then I could follow then for free.

    ReplyDelete
  139. It was so weird it just drew me in lol, as a nine year old I was like what is this?!

I understand completely. Man I spent so much money on Wrestling DVD's when I was like 14, 15 I can't even believe it. That's the cool thing about being on the Indy's though because once I started going to shows and stuff I sat up the ring at the ROH shows in Detroit, got to get in free, meet the wrestlers like Samoa Joe who's one of the nicest funniest dudes ever. Just alot of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Cool, that sounds awesome, especially the free part! So, you've gotta let me know, who were your favorite/least favorite guys you've managed to meet.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Man...the nicest guys I'd met were um Chris Hero who I still keep in contact with and gave me a ton of valuable advice. Colt Cabana who also gave me alot of promo advice. Samoa Joe who the first time I met joked around with me and told me to "Have his sister on the porch for him to pick up by 12." Also um...Sabu was weird, the first time I met him he asked me if I had any scissors he could borrow for his match. Like i just carry scissors in my pocket.

I didn't really meet any jerks or anyone, I met Alex Shelley as a fan and he was a jerk but when I became a worker and I met him in locker rooms he was cool. And Zach Gowen is cool, I had dinner with him once. Zach, Sabin & Shelley all trained at my trainers school so I saw them alot.

Lemme know if I'm just babbling on and it's getting annoying lol.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Nah, trust me, it's not annoying at all, that stuff is really interesting. I had to laugh with the Sabu comment, because that dude just seems weird! I've had a few people ask me if I had some smokes on me, but I can safely say nobody has ever asked me for a pair of scissors!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Lol yeah Sabu asked me for Scissors dude. I've met a bunch of the ECW guys...New Jack genuinely scares me. I know a ref who botched a 3 count, New Jack hit him in the MOUTH with a chair, dude he lost two teeth and one cracked in half. And none of that is like dental covered or he like barely made any money because Indy shows you make like 20 bucks a match if you're unknown. Lucky if you make that.

Also I met Rhyno who's friggin built like a file cabinet. I'm maybe three inches taller than him but I swear to you dude he's like wide and solid looking. Like if you ran into him it'd be like hitting a wall. But for the most part guys are really nice and give advice to those who want it. The first thing you do when you enter the locker room is shake hands with everyone and introduce yourself.

  144. Ha, I've never met New Jack personally, and that dude scares me! He just seems like the kind of guy you wouldn't want to piss off, and from you're story, I guess that's true!

It's good to hear that most guys aren't asses, because most of the time you hear all of these stories about how nasty the older guys are and stuff like that.

  145. Yeah man, maybe I just lucked out and haven't met anyone who's a jerk yet but everyone was pretty cool with the exception of New Jack being very scary.

The only thing I hate is I started going to the indy's right after Punk got signed and he was ALWAYS in Detroit for shows because ya know he's from the Chicago area, but I've heard from a few people he's kind of a jerk but others have said he's cool.

  146. I guess it's kind of hard to figure out how somebody like Punk is unless you've actually met them yourself, you know? People could be trashing him because he actually made it to the big time and their jealous, or who knows, maybe he really is a jerk.

  147. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised either way, because people can be petty or he may just be an ass. I can't see him being one though because hanging out with Colt Cabana who's like his best friend was cool and Colt's one of the nicest dude's around.
