Before I say a word, I hate Cassie. Lol Okay....got that off my chest.
Kid Flash! Whoooo! lol. Aww you don't like Geoff Johns? Or just specific things he wrote you liked before? I love Geoff, I'm curious to see your opinion on him.
Everyone knows X LOVES Geoff Johns, almost more than he loves comic books :P Lol but really, I liked Impulse's evolution to Kid Flash, I'd rather have him competent and ready for anything than play the comedy role all the time, and get stuck being never taken seriously like Beast Boy.
I think after that whole "reading a library" thing, it makes it hard for him to go back to being a complete doofus all the time. Especially when all the other Teen Titans characters were being written with more maturity.
But Bart's potential probably got stretched too far back and forth (with the whole aged ahead and de-aged thing) compared to the other characters. Even Superboy being dormant for a thousand years seemed to have less of a negative effect on his character in comparison. And don't forget, we have the new Impulse, so it pushes Bart Allen out of the way that much more.
There was no bigger Geoff Johns fan in the free world then me Falisha. Hell, I gave him my writer of the year award two years running. However, his utter contempt for anything written after 1975(with the exception of his work of course)has really gotten me down on him. He's gone from my undisputed favorite writer to barely being in the top 5.
I still to this day prefer Impulse Bart to Kid Flash Bart. Impulse was such a unique character, from his actions, to those thought bubble pictures he used to have. Kid Flash is just another teen hero.
I think Bart could have easily matured little by little, but Geoff just decided, "The hell with that!" and turned Impulse into a totally different character. And I'd def agree with you Kello, over the course of 6 years, Bart's gone from Impulse, to Kid Flash, to Flash, to dead, to Kid Flash again... That's WAY to much alteration to any character in such a short span of time. How can you expect fans to be drawn to the character if they don't know who he is from one year to the next?
Aww I'm sad to hear that. But I know where you're coming from. I've had a favorite artist do work and then go on hiatus and come back with some crap they call work.
The stuff I've read by Geoff Johns is a billion times better than Greg Rucka so to me, Johns is damn good. But coming from somebody who's just recently got into the comic reading game, what do I know? Lol You're the King of Comics...you know all!! lol

The later issues of Impulse - #62 to #89 - worked much better for his character growth than Teen Titans ever did. He was actually starting to be taken seriously, as well, just that the writers who wrote him after it and YJ ended COMPLETELY MISSED THAT.
Ladystarscream, I couldn't have put it better myself! Bart's relationship with Max Mercury had evolved towards the end of Impulse, and after one of his duplicates died during that whole, "Our Worlds at War" storyline, Bart showed that could be written as a slightly more mature character. Sure he was still a goof for the most part, but the way he was growing up seemed WAY more realistic then when he was in the Titans and all of a sudden he's quoting Shakespeare and stuff... It seemed like over the course of a few issues of Teen Titans Bart went from being a 12 yr old to a 16 year old...
