And here's the perfect example of why Peter David is probably one of the best comic book writers ever. If ya don't get the gag, I'll be happy to explain it...
That's the trademark of a Peter David written comic, SWEET dialogue. You can always count on getting a good story or a good laugh out of anything Peter writes.
Damn man, I could go on FOREVER about Peter David's work... X-Factor, Aquaman(which I still have to read some day...), Captain Marvel(the Marvel version, not the DC one), tons of Hulk stuff(although my hatred of all things Hulk means I haven't read most of that), Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, She-Hulk, the Supergirl series from the 90's(which I'll prob buy one day), and the surprisingly awesome Spyboy... Yeah, I'm a HUGE Peter David mark... His sense of humor is a lot like ours, so I'd bet you'd probably like most of his work. I'd recommend Spyboy for starters, 'cause it didn't go on for THAT long, and you can prob find it REAL cheap. It was from Dark Horse Comics I think... His Captain Marvel work was just MIND-BLOWING too! He wrote it for during two seperate series, the first series was happy-go-lucky, slap-stick sort of comedy, and then for the second, he totally turned the series around 180 degrees, and had the title character go utterly insane. Reading those two series one after the other was great... Am I babbling again? Yes, I believe I am!
Babble on good sir, I opened the arc of the covenant/comments so I'm find with it haha, I've never heard of Spyboy, and the Cap Marvel stuff sounds interesting, as well as that Spider-Man... I'm gonna go broke with all these recommendations.
Well, like I said, Spyboy was one of those creator owned Dark Horse titles, so it only ran for a few issues in the early 2000's(I think). It was about a HS kid who learned that he had a super-spy persona locked away in his mind that could do all of the stuff he wanted to do, but couldn't. It was a total comedy book, and for the most part, it was pretty damn funny. there was actually a DC/Dark Horse x-over where Young Justice and Spyboy teamed up called "Young Spies Like Us".
The Capt. Marvel stuff was really some crazy AMAZING stuff... I mean, the first series was all about slapstick comedy and stuff, while the second series just took the Capt. Marvel character and turned him on his ear. I mean, when I say Capt/ Marvel went insane in that series, I MEAN it!!
Yeah, I'd def recommend it. If nothing else you'd have the YJ characters to read about, plus you know I'd be happy to fill you in on who the Spyboy characters are, and what their deal is.
Yeah man, there have been A LOT of Capt. Marvel series! The ones I'm talking about are series 4(which began in 1999 and was the comedy one)and series 5(which began in 2002 and dealt with Cap going loco).
Hmm, specific arcs you ask? Not really... They were both just good straight through. I guess I'd just recommend trying to grab a few early issues from each series and see if it's your cup of tea. As for price, it's prob not THAT expensive, Capt. Marvel was more or less a c-lister(with CRAZY power), and the two series were never really acclaimed.
Man, all I'm gonna say is that I WISH I was reading the Winter Soldier stuff for the first time again... Hmm, maybe I'd better stop hyping it so much, because I'm kind of setting it up with CRAZY expectations!
Ray's powers are light based. He absorbs light and uses it as energy. So basically the "eat light" line could mean that Ray doesn't eat heavy meals, or it could mean that he literally "eats" light. Hope that helped ya out a bit with that line!
I really love Impulse, but I haven't really read many of his comics, and I was wondering; is he actually aware of the fact that he's, like, four? Is Max? Are any of the other Young Justice members aware? Thanks
Lmao that is awesome! I was just waiting for Robin to walk in... and that Eat Light joke was pretty clever too.

ReplyDeleteHas he written anything else notable besides Young Justice? I feel like I've asked you this before too...

I've seen that but I never picked up up because I didn't know who he was and I hate crappy cross overs, would you recommend it?
ReplyDeleteSo which Volumes of Captain Marvel is this exactly? I looked it up and there's like four!
Yeah, I'd def recommend it. If nothing else you'd have the YJ characters to read about, plus you know I'd be happy to fill you in on who the Spyboy characters are, and what their deal is.

I'll see if they have that as well Thursday, since the Holidays pushed back comic day.
ReplyDeleteHm... Any specific arcs I should pick up because that sounds REALLY Pricey my man lol.

ReplyDeleteAh... alrighty then, I'll look into it next week, my funds are kinda gone already haha, just remind me bro
ReplyDeleteHa, well with all of the recommendations being thrown your way, I can't say I'm surprised!
ReplyDeleteLol same, but I picked up those comics I mentioned, and I'll probably pick up this and the Captain America Winter Soldier thing.
ReplyDeleteMan, all I'm gonna say is that I WISH I was reading the Winter Soldier stuff for the first time again... Hmm, maybe I'd better stop hyping it so much, because I'm kind of setting it up with CRAZY expectations!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you're over-hyping it and it's gonna crash like Poochie the Dog.
ReplyDeleteNerd: "Mr. Simpson, in the Itchy and Scratchy CD-Rom there is no key to access the dungeon, what do you do, what DO you do?"
Homer: "What he hell are you talking about?!?!?!"
HA!!! I STILL remember that scene!
ReplyDeleteLol I LOVE that so freaking much. He said it like he was so pissed at the kid for asking lol.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the "Eat Light" joke....help?
