Captain America #367(Feb. 1990)

This was by far my favorite super-villain showdown, because it made SO much sense when looking at the histories of both characters.

  1. Is it just me or does Red Skull look A LOT like Black Mask in this comic?

  3. Dun Dun Dun! Who came first, Red Skull or Black Mask? lol.

As for this scan....why does "Dust of Death" seem less intimidating? Lol.

Way to be trapped, inside a plastic bubble. "Come back here coward!" lol That's some classic humor. Magneto is pretty funny.

  4. I so saw that coming X.

And Falisha If I'm not mistaken Red Skull has been around since the 40's so he wins. :P

  5. Yup, the first Red Skull appearance was in the very first Captain America comic, which was in 1941 if I'm not mistaken(and when it comes to Cap trivia, I'm usually not!) although the Red Skull in that comic isn't the one we all know about today.

My favorite line was, "The devil with that, Nazi scum!!!" When Mags gets going, he can rant with the best of them, Falisha. When it comes to outbursts and bizarre comments, Magneto is among the best in all of comicdom.

  6. Lol. Comicdom, only the king of comics can make up such a cool word lol.

Thanks for the info boys. :D Black mask was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this scan. lol.

And I can't wait to see the rest of the scans this week, lol Magneto seems pretty funny. You always find the humor in characters lol.

  7. Ah, Mark Gruenwald's run on Cap...good times. I'm assuming this issue was part of the Acts of Vengeance crossover?

  8. Well as the new King of Comics, I need a comicdom to call my home Falisha! ;-) And yes, with Magneto, it's easy to find some funny scans, bacause he's always going off on something!

Marc, you're winning me over more and more evryday! With the exception of Ed Brubaker's current Cap run, Mark Gruenwald's Cap run was my favorite. It's one of the Cap runs I went out of my way to collect every issue. There were some things that bugged me(such as the bizarre insistance that Cap never killed, even though he was in WWII), but for the most part, Mark's run was solid throughout. Plus it introduced Crossbones! Mark was such a good underrated writer... And yes, this was a part of the Acts of Vengence story, which BENDIS obviously liked enough to swipe the idea for his Dark Reign story.
