New Mutants #87(March 1990)

Hmm, it seems like Cable has gotten younger since his debut issue... And grown his hair back! That's going to be it for Cable week. Starting tomorrow, I'll be spotlighting... Some DC character, I have no idea who yet!

  1. Is there a reason that dude at the top has four arms? Or is that a screw up?

  2. This is one of the reasons I don't like Cable. Nothing about him ever seems definitive. Is he old? Young? Is it just that his hair is gray and it makes him look old? It always bothered me.

Thanks for putting this up, X-Man. You brought up the exact point I was going to make!

I vote for a Hawkman week!

  3. Well I see I came JUST in time. I say, we get a Wonder Woman Week!!! If you can't get it this week, by all means go head save it for the Week of March 1st (my birthday is March 3rd) Nice Birthday gift don't you think X? :D

  4. That guy is Forearm, JT, and as you've probably guessed by now, his gimmick was the fact that he had four arms!

I think the main problem with Cable is probably the fact that there have been too many writers who have put their own stamp on him, Kello. It's no secret that Rob Liefeld wanted to take the character in one direction, while Fabian Nicieza ended up taking him in a totally different direction. There have just been WAY too many hands in creating Cable's origin, which is probably why it's the convuluted mess it is today. IMO, the biggest mistake that was made with Cable was revealing that he was indeed the son of Scott Summers and Maddie Pryor. I always liked the idea of Cable being the clone, while Stryfe was Scott's son(as was the original idea). Going that way might have ended some of the confusion that Cable suffers to this day.

Ah, see, I checked this post out AFTER I had settled on a Deathstroke week(and posted the first pic for it)... I could do a Hawkman week, but since I still haven't read the Hawkman series, I'd only be able to use scans from the old JSA and current Justice Society series' Kello... If I was to EVER get around to reading that series, I'd have way more material to choose from. As for WW Falisha, I could prob do a WW week, but the only WW comics I have are from the current series, which is only 40 issues long(with maybe a handful of older WW comics). I'm pretty sure I could dig out a few WW appearances from other series, it would just be a matter of finding the right comics. Since that week is your birthday, I'll def see what I can do for you though!

  5. Ahh Forearm. Pretty clever, also pretty lame in a world that already has Dr. Octopus. Is this dude still around?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sir, I am fine with your selection of WW. I've only been reading the Volume 3 anyways. lol.

You sir are awesome! I am not worthy! *kneels* lol. Thanks hun! can't wait to see what you find. :D

Oh and as far as Deathstroke I'm fine with that, he's like my favorite villain of all time. :D

    ReplyDelete
  7. Nope, poor Forearm was depowered as a result of the massively idiotic M-Day, so I guess he's going by Twoarm now... Ugh, that was horrible, even by my low standards!

Well how can I say no to your birthday wish Falisha? I'm pretty sure I should be able to produce enough unique things so I don't have to rely solely on the current WW series. With all of the comics I have laying around, I'd hope I can find 7 measly WW appearances from outside her own series!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lol, I like your jokes X but yeah...that one should have been left alone. And if you DO decide to do WW week please Exclude BN WW.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah, that joke was def rock bottom for me... Ugh, what was I thinking...

Oh, and don't you worry, there ain't NO way I'll be posting ANYTHING from BN: WW in it during WW week! Although the art was good, I just want to forget that series ever took place!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thank you! I agree the art was really good but that was such a let down. I remember seeing the cover with Max Lord choking WW with her own lasso thinking it was gonna be so awesome. Man was I wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I hate covers like that. That have absolutely nothing to do with the actual comic.

    ReplyDelete
  12. You know, not all that long ago I was complaining about that very thing... I miss the old days when the cover actually gave you a glimpse of what you were about to read. Nowadays, you'll get a pic of somebody on the cover, and they won't even appear inside! Now THAT'S just wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's like, before they changed the cover to Blackest Night Flash 3 to just Saint Barry it had Barry fighting Nekron on the cover yet Nekron is NOWHERE in the issue. Like....why the hell would you ever make that cover when it isn't scheduled for him to even appear?!

    ReplyDelete
  14. That's one of my major pet peeves when it comes to CBs... It's bad enough when the cover has nothing to do with the book, but it's unforgivable when you have characters that don't even appear inside on the cover!

    ReplyDelete
  15. That annoys me so much dude, what also annoys me is when word bubbles are pointing to the wrong person. Like...there's one in BN Flash 3, I won't ruin it for you but it's like frustrating how someone could make such a dumb mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mmm, that's a good one! That's something you see a lot more often in the older comics. It's pretty pathetic that something recent like BN Flash would be suffering from that.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Right? And the last two issues of Batman And Robin both had stuff like that. Aren't their people who's sole job is to look for stuff like that?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah man, besides the guys who actually do the lettering, you'd think there'd be at least ONE editor who reads a finished CB before he gives the order to let it go to the newstands... I mean, back in the day, there were a lot fewer guys working on each comic, nowadays the title page seems filled with names. I guess somebody ain't doing their job very well. I'd be more then happy to take that job if they don't want it. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. RIght? I'll gladly collect the ay check for reading comics, hell I do that for free and pay THEM money. I wish I knew how you even get started. Like where did Geoff Johns start before he became the comic phenom he is today?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think Geoff started working in the movie business, and parlayed that into his writing a few things for DC. I def could be wrong though... I could have sworn that he worked with the dude who directed the Superman movies before he got into comics, which is why that guy co-wrote the Last Son story with Geoff, but once again, I could be wrong.

I know the guy who wrote the World's Finest mini, and is currently writing Supergirl(Sterling Gates)was discovered by Geoff at a Comic-con, so maybe we should try to get to one of those!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hm...maybe we should work on a script and pass it around at a Comic Con. To be honest just working with you on a comic script seems pretty damn fun.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ha, that would probably be a blast! You know, there are a few comic writing teams that always seem to be working together. Two of my favorite Marvel writers, Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning always seem to co-write everything.

After we finish it, we could give it to Falisha to storyboard!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hm.. what doe Abnett and Lanning write? I may check it out if it's someone I'm familiar with.

Exactamundo, then split the money three ways. Sounds good to me. We have to make a character so Marvel and DC can't sue us, so we'll COMBINE X Man and Jason Todd and make Jason Man...and hope they BOTH don't sue us. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  24. They pretty much control all of the Marvel space titles, so I doubt you'd really know much about their work. All of the Realm of Kings minis, Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy are the books they're currently writing.

"Jason Man"?!? Ugh... Dude, I want to sue you after reading that! :p Hmm, in light of that, I propose that I get the creative control over our story! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah I've never heard of those title outside of you mentioning them before.

So ya want Creative Control do ya? You're more and more like Triple H everyday. :P Lol I'll give you creative control if you can pitch me a name, backstory and powers for the character, GO!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh man, how's that for putting me on the spot! Since my gas tank is almost on empty, I'm going to ask for a one day repeieve before getting to that task! Tomorrow night, I'll have an awesome character all ready to go!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm fine with that, you have a one day extension for your creative Control opportunity. Hm... how about our production name is NYC. (Not Your Comics)

    ReplyDelete
  28. NYC? I LOVE it! And with me actually being a New Yawker, it works on so many levels! Hmm, I may have to rethink not giving you creative control now...

Hmm, OK, let me take a quick shot at this whole character making deal... I mean, whatever I do can't be any worse then "Jason Man", can it? :p

I'm going to make this an Elseworlds type of story set 16/17 years in the future. Character name: Jack Drake, 16/17 years old, no super powers.

Story: Son born out of a fling between Spoiler and Tim Drake, is named after Tim's father(So we take the Spoiler pregnancy angle from the Robin series, but we make Tim the kid's father and have Steph decide to keep the baby). They never married, but Tim made sure he was always in his son's life, until Batman(Bruce Wayne)died during Final Crisis(for this continuity, there is no Damian, and Batman is REALLY dead, not hanging out with cavemen back in the day). Tim wants to claim the Batman mantle for his own, but Nightwing decides to become the new Batman, which drives a wedge into their(Tim & Dick)relationship. After Spoiler's death(at the hands of the Joker), Tim takes in his son and moves him into Wayne Manor, semi-retiring from super-heroics. During a jailbreak at Arkham, Tim goes to assist Nightwing/Batman, but basically gets in his way which allows the Joker to kill Dick. From there, it looks like Tim murders the Joker in retribution, but Tim claims innocence, which nobody believes since Joker had killed both Steph and Dick by this point. The JLA takes Tim away and locks him up on the Watchtower in order to protect the identity of the Bat-family members(you can't have Tim tried in court for the murder of the Joker without too much info being revealed). Fast forward a few years, and there are a few small crimes in Gotham that seem to have the Joker's MO to them. Jack, who had been training since he was a kid to follow in his father's footsteps, with some help from Alfred(who'd be really OLD by this point!), begins to prowl the streets of Gotham as Batboy(or maybe Batman, I don't know...). Jack figures if he can prove that the Joker faked his death and is still alive, then he'll be able to prove the innocence of his father, and get him released from his Watchtower prison. From there, things pretty much write themselves.

Not great, but for a few minutes of work, not TOO terrible... So, what changes would you make partner?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah I was trying to combine our cities but Not Your Comics worked so well I couldn't help but choose it. and Lol at least I didn't say X Todd :P

I like it, I hate that Spoilers been "killed" twice at this point but It makes sense. I think him taking the bat mantle would be cliche.. If anything Jack becoming the Red Robin seems like the best choice since Tim never became Batman in our timeline. Plus he wants retribution for his parents as well as Dick who I guess even if he and Tim aren't on good terms would still be Jack's Godfather or something. Plus we could create newer villains. It kinda has a fun Batman Beyond vibe without being too far into the future but I do like it a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "X Todd" HA!!! Well, you know, I actually like that a little bit more then Jason Man actually!

I don't know about the Red Robin thing... In this continuity, I don't think Tim ever was Red Robin. Then again, instead of dressing like Red Robin, he could just wear an altered Robin costume... IDK, don't you think a "Batman from the near future" story would sell better then a "Red Robin from the near future" story? That's why I like using the Bat name, it would give us that extra name appeal. BUT, since we are partners, and since I came up with the main idea, I will gladly give you naming rights.

Yeah, I like the newer villains aspect, because we could mix new villains in with some of Batman's original rogues gallery. I'm sure someone like Clayface or Mr. Freeze would still be running around, while we could always remake someone like Scarecrow... So if we were to do a series around this idea, with the first issue developing the characters and the scene, what/who would you add into our first 6 issue storyarc? What would the first major villain be, a new one, or an already establihed Bat-foe? And PLEASE don't say Penguin, because then there'd be some real trouble...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lol Jason Man, How about Jason X? That sounds pretty sweet.

Hm...I do agree that a Batman from the near future is more of a selling point. Lets go with Batman. or we could always go with Redman but um... I'd rather not get sued. :P

Okay no penguin, how about Mad Hatter! Lol no really, lets see, you know who I really want to use? I think we should use Hush. He could have his face disfigured and not look like Bruce any more and we can redeem him. Hell I kinda wanna use Jason since he's the only other Robin since Dick is dead, Steph is dead, and Tim is in jail, but not in a villain role. Can you think of a good role to use Jason in if we make Hush the villain for the first arc? (And no it's not favoritism :P)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ha, you know, there was a character in the Marvel Universe named Adam X, so I can't see why Jason X wouldn't work!

"Redman"?!? I'm not even gonna touch that one!

"(And no it's not favoritism :P)" Suuuuuure it's not, JT... Suuuuure... :p Hmm, let's see... I can actually see a pretty decent way to redeem Jason, but I'm not sure how we'd mix Hush in it. Jason's easy, all you need is for Jack to botch his first big battle against some villain(let's say Killer Croc)and Jason can make the save. Hell, I can even see the comic layout for that. Jack gets his ass handed to him by Croc, and as Croc moves in for the kill, he gets taken down by a weapon thrown from off panel. The last page can then be Jason standing over our fallen hero. You could then open the next issue with Jason bringing Jack back to the Cave to be patched up by Alfred, showing genuine concern, and becoming something of a mentor. That would also lead to an interesting dynamic when Tim eventually gets out of prison, because you know he STILL wouldn't trust Jason.

As for Hush, maybe after Jason has been working with Jack for a few issues(maybe as Red Robin)Hush can go about framing Jason, which would cause a whole mess of doubt in Jack and the readers about whether Jason was truly reformed or not, until it's revealed Hush was back to his old tricks of messing with the Bat-family. Well, that's my take, what do ya think partner?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lol @ Redman, I hoped you'd get that being from New York and all :P I still don't know your music tastes.

Dude I love that Idea, I really dp. That way you can have Jason grooming Jack for the Batman role because he's been trained by Bruce and had the same trainining as Bruce so it works. But at the same time he doesn't have to be there, he can pop in and out like Nightwing used to. Hm.. so what about we use Black Mask instead, that way we can say in the years since he's taken over the gang wars and have people like Croc in his pocket. Then we can use guys like Zsasz and stuff too.

Hm.. I typed that stuff above before I saw your last paragraph. To be honest I love that idea because you can have people like Alfred who believe Jason, then Tim can talk to Jack while in Jail and tell him not to trust Jason and you have this big air of mystery surrounding him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My music taste? Hmm, that's a good question... My MP3 player has pretty much a little bit of everything on it. Except Country music. I HATE Country music!

Pfft, see that, this comic book writing stuff is a piece of cake! Between the two of us, we've pretty much busted out the first 6-8 issues of this series! I actually like the idea of having Black Mask as the lone Gotham crimelord still left. That way we can passingly mention that Penguin was killed several years back by Mask when he was consolidating his powerbase! Oh, and Mad Hatter was also killed for some reason... Maybe he was hit by a truck while he was crossing the street or something. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lol same here dude, I'll honestly listen to anything from Lupe Fiasco, to Fall out Boy, to Gym Class Heroes to damn near anything else, minus country of course.

Lmao I love that you hate him so much. We could easily write some good stuff dude. How do you thing we shjould handle other guys though, should we expand on guys like Zsasz, Solomon Grundy and Two-Face? Do we keep Harvey as a villain or reform him again?

    ReplyDelete
  36. "Lmao I love that you hate him so much." He's a frigging bucktooth midget with a hat!!! I'd be surprised if there was anybody who actually liked him!!! I guess other bucktooth midgets with hat fetishes would like him, but I can't imagine there are all that many comic book readers who fit that description...

I'd def include Zsasz and I think I'd keep Two-Face evil. As for Grundy, I'd def have Jason on hand to help take him down! I'd also have a few new characters using the name of older characters. Like I'd have a new Firefly and a new Killer Moth, while I'd have a character like Scarecrow mentoring a new, younger Scarecrow. Hmm, you know who'd be interesting to use? Catwoman... What can you come up with for her?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lmao I laughed SO hard at bucktooth midget in a hat. That was friggin classic dude. I never thought of it like that.

Hm...good question. We have no Bruce, so she'd be devastated but this is years later. I honestly don't know unless we just make her bitter and have her help jack from time to time, how about you? Also Harley, Ivy and Ra's?

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's the truth! I just can't fathom why any comic writer bothers using that damn loser!

Yeah, the Catwoman question is a good one... I'm not sure what she'd be doing with herself either. I kind of like the idea of a younger Catwoman(maybe the daughter Catwoman gave up after the One Year Later deal)that could serve as a love interest of sorts for Jack. Selina could be mentoring her daughter in a similar way the Jason occasionally mentors Jack.

With Joker supposedly dead(even though we'd eventually reveal he's really not), I'm not sure what to do with Harley. As boring as it may sound, maybe with Joker's influence gone, she'd reform and go back to working as a shrink. Ivy would prob still be Ivy. Since she's more plant then woman, I could easily see her still doing the same stuff she's doing now some 16 years in the future. As for Ra's, I'd think that he'd be kind of pissed about somebody not chosen by Bruce to take up the Bat-mantle. During our second or third storyarc, I could easily see doing a big six part Ra's storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now that I like, because they'd be around the same age, give or take, Selina's kid would be a few years older maybe but I like the idea of that. Plus Jack has another ally in her, Jason, Selina and Alfred.

So how would we end this first arc and what would you wanna do for the second one, since we're leading off with a big gun like Hush.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, I really like Selina's daughter being Jack's Catwoman/Spoiler too.

Hmm, that's another good question. How's about I let you throw an idea out about ending the first arc, then we can put our heads together to put the finishing touches on it. Just remember, we don't want to bust everything out for the very first arc.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Alright, cool. How about the end of the first arc, Hush is defeated by Jack, we see Black Mask watching from afar on a monitor. We see Jack telling his father Tim about his exploits and how he was helped by the returning Jason Todd. Tim tells him not to trust Jason because he's betrayed them once. Last thing we see is Jason sitting down at his base (Todd-Cave?) lol. And he's looking at his Robin suit, then Red Robin suit, then his Red Hood Suit, Then the Black Mask...mask. So we leave them wondering is Jason Black Mask? Is he trying to lure Jack into a trap?

That way we establish that Jason may not be as good as he seems. We still have mystery surrounding him. in the next arc we can have him leave at certain times and never have him around when we show Black Mask. Also we can introduce the new Catwoman (Selina's daughter) and make the villain of this arc Scarecrow and his protege. Sound cool?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wooo baby, that some pretty sweet storytelling! It almost makes me forget the whole Jason Man thing... I especially like the thing with Jason walking along his Cave(?)looking at his various costumes, stopping at the Black Mask mask to end the issue/arc. That leaves things SO open to interpetation. Plus the talk with Tim establishes to the slower fans/fans who don't know who Jason is that he might not be as trustworthy as he seems. Man, that DAMN good!

Yeah, that sounds good to me as well. The second arc seems like a good time to bring in some new characters, because the star and the secondary established characters have been established all ready during the first few issues. So when do you think we do the big, "Joker is still alive" reveal? I'm thinking the 4th or 5th storyarc. If it was the 4th storyarc, we could match the final issue of the Joker arc with the double-sized 25th issue.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lmao @ "Wooo baby, that some pretty sweet storytelling! It almost makes me forget the whole Jason Man thing..." That had me laughing SO damn hard dude... classic

Well I can't let you come up with ALL the good ideas can I? I gotta do something over here. I like the idea of the fourth arc so we can so the double sized 25th issue. How do you feel about dropping a hint during the third arc? I can't think of anything that wouldn't be super obvious though.

So Arc one - Introduction, Arc two - Scarecrow and Apprentice, Arc three - Black Mask and Jason Speculation, Arc four - The Return of the Joker? So do you wanna flesh out more ideas for arc three? Also what do we wanna do with guys like The Riddler and Mr. Freeze?

    ReplyDelete
  44. You know, I hate to tell ya, but I'm never going to let you live that Jason Man thing down... It sounds like the name of an Asian celebrity chef or something...

I'd actually be all right with dropping hints all throughout the first 25 issues concerning Joker. At first little things like finding Joker cards on dead bodies(so people could always think it was a copycat or something like that), before you start getting more Joker-iffic crimes like Joker gas being used on people, etc.

Arc 3 kind of writes itself I'd think. Your idea of portraying Jason as the possible Black Mask works out really well. I can see the climatic battle between Black Mask and Jack where Mask has total advantage of Jack and is ready to kill/unmask him and Jason pops in to save the day. Guys like Riddler and Freeze could either be saved for arcs down the road or be used as guys we see Jack defeating quickly, just to have a few random fight scenes in there.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lol It was a joke, a joke I'm gonna pay for, for the rest of my days. *somber music* :P

I like the idea of leaving Joker cards around and such until he makes his main return. So how do we handle the Joker return/fight? Also would that free Tim afterwards or would he still be kept in jail since we know Joker's not really dead?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, SUUURE it was a joke, JT... Joke or not, you're right, you are going to pay for that for the rest of your days! In 2039 I'll still be teasing you over that one! :p

Well, you know that once Jason gets wind of Joker still being alive, he's going to want a big piece of him. I'd think Jason would want to keep Jack away from a battle against Joker, considering what Joker did to him... And yeah, my plan was always for Tim to get out of jail after Joker is revealed to be alive, I figure he'd be very over protective of Jack's crimefighting, just like his father was to him after he found out that Tim was Robin.

As for the Joker battle/reveal, there are a few problems I have with it, so I'll toss them your way. First off would be why did Joker fake his death/disappear for 16/17 years? I'd like to say that he had his neck broken by Tim and that's why everybody thought he was dead... Maybe his body could have gotten lost in a collapsing building or something where it was discovered by Harley or something... Maybe... We could always use the old Lazarus Pit excuse. Harley could have been searching the globe for a Lazarus Pit to toss Mista J into to heal his fractured body. That way Joker could come back more deranged and insane then before. I don't know, what have you got on Joker's return?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Just realized I'll be 49 then. Damn you X, make a screw up so I can tease you for the next thirty years about it :P

Yeah, I think Jason would definitely want to go after Joker, yet protect Jack, and I think Jack should end up saving Jason, kinda the reverse of what happens with Jack's first big fight, so it comes full circle.

Hm.. I like the idea of Joker being "dead", then he's put in a Lazarus pit by Harley. Then again maybe we should have it be Talia, saying with Bruce gone, and Dick Gone and Tim doing something Bruce wouldn't approve of by "killing" Joker, she made it right and gave him his life back. That seems crazy enough for Talia, and she has the resources unlike Harley. Plus you still get the more deranged Joker and he's stronger due to being in the Lazarus pit and pissed because he's died once.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Man, if I'm STILL teasing you over that in 29 years time, then I'd be a REAL jerk! But on the bright side, that would mean this blog was still going strong!

That's the exact way it played out in my head. Jason hides critical info from Jack about Joker and winds up getting captured by Joker. Then we get Jack making the save which like you said, would bring the series full circle.

Yeah, the Joker being dead idea is kind of appealing, but then it raises the fact that Tim did actually kill Joker, and as such, Tim SHOULD be in prison... I just don't know if I'd want to turn Tim into a murderer, even if he was killing someone who completely deserved it, like Joker... That's why I'd go with the tamer, Joker is paralyzed story, since he'd still get tossed in the Lazarus Pit to heal his paralasis(plus comes out extra strong and crazy), and Tim could be released from custody at the end of the story, since he really didn't kill Joker. I don't know, do you really favor making Tim into a murderer?

    ReplyDelete
  49. This blog would be so famous after 29 years... Hell I'm sure Geoff would be an avid reader at that point.

You're right, I forgot that we still want Tim innocent. I like the idea of Tim trying to kill Joker out of fury but not doing it. Like doing a paralyzing move and at that point Joker, who's smarter than we give him credit for, could do something to stop his heart making it seem as if he's dead, thus locking up Tim. Then Joker recovers but is still paralyzed and enter the Lazarus pit. Sound cool?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Man, I'd have to hope that this blog would be famous after 29 years! If not, then I'm doing something REALLY wrong!

Yeah, that works pretty well for me. Maybe it could be something even more innocent like Joker falling out a window at Arkham(or where ever the big fight was)and Tim saving him by throwing him a batline which wraps around Joker's neck instead of arm or body. The sudden halt of Joker's momentum would snap Joker's neck, and with all the stuff Joker had been responsible for, it would look like Tim tried to hang him or something. Then like you said, it could be discovered that Joker stopped his own heart and was rescued by Harley or someone.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like the idea of him being saved by the line but paralyzed. It's very Gwen Stacey like. Plus it makes alot of sense. But wouldn't people know Tim was Robin/Red Robin/whoever he is at that time once people think he killed Joker depending on how it happened?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Exactly, but being a self-proclaimed genius, I'd already found a way around that! ;-) In the original synopsis, I think I wrote that Tim was taken into custody by the JLA in order to protect the Bat-family legacy, because you know if people were to figure out Tim's identity, they'd figure out the rest of the Bat-clan in no time.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ah, well alright then mr. Self proclaimed genius, what do we follow our Joker return with? Who's the big villain in our FIFTH arc, after Tim is released and whatnot?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hmm, let's see, with Tim released, we can have him trying to put an end to Jack's crimefighting career at first, to add some family troubles. Plus we both know Tim wouldn't want his son ANYWHERE near Jason, so that can be another story thread we can fool around with. How about we introduce Catwoman's daughter, Catgirl maybe(?), for the fifth arc. We can just rip stuff right from the Batman mythos with that, Catgirl can be a thief, Jack catches her, but she manages to convince him not to lock her up, which can be the start of her being a potential love interest. We could also toss in a c-lister like Mr. Freeze towards the end which would lead to Catgirl and Jack working together to take him out. What do ya think partner?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like the idea of teaming them up, as well as the family trouble with Tim and Jack, and Tim not trusting Jason. My question is, does Damian just not exist at all or has he just never been spoken of at this point of our version? Also, I feel like Bane should be utilized at some point, how do you feel about making Bane like some international cartel leader that wants to do crime in Gotham. That way we can show him as being the smart dude he's rarely written as anymore.

  56. I was simply ignoring the fact that Damian ever existed period! :p Seriously though, I don't think we should have a Damian around like he is in the DCU, because then he'd prob have the best claim to become Batman, which would screw up our story. However, I wouldn't mind bringing in an older Damian eventually as a villainous character Jack has to deal with from time to time. I could see Damian filling the evil Batman role Jason played in Battle for the Cowl. As for the Bane thing, I have no problem with that. I think that was kind of his MO when he first debut, so with Bruce out of the way, I could easily see him moving in to become Gotham's crimelord.

  57. Lol I like the idea of Damian playing the evil Batman role. We could even have him steal Jason's old Batman costume from BFTC. Sweet so we agree on Bane, is there anyone else important we're leaving out? Hell maybe we should try pitching this to Kello...

  58. I was thinking the same thing with Damian and the Jason Todd Batman suit actually.

Hmm, how about Dr. Aesop? Kidding!!! No Dr. Aesop... EVER! Well you know, we could also think about expanding past Gotham, and into the rest of the DCU. I mean, what's up with Supes in Metropolis, Hal in Coast City, Flash in Keystone/Central, etc. Maybe down the road we could have Jack cross over with a few other future DCU heroes.

  59. Lol dude... I didn't even REMEMBER that guy until Sirens. Why did they bring him outta nowhere for like NO reason at all? Anyway...

Hm... Good point dude. Where's Bart Allen at this point, and Cassie, and Connor. Hm... you've brought up a very good point X.

  60. The weirdest thing about Aesop was the fact that Paul Dini was the guy who killed him off, so I just don't get the logic of bringing him back!

Yeah, you'd think all of the Young Justice/Teen Titans characters would be the established heroes in this world... SO what do you think? I guess they all be members of the JLA by that point, right? I'd guess Bart would be the Flash(unless Geoff Johns was writing, then Saint Barry would def still be the Flash), Cassie would be WW and Connor would be Supes...

  61. I didn't even know Aesop existed. I had to look him up, like who the hell is this guy?! I hate how Sirens keep getting obscure villains... Also I'm predicting the Sirens go head to head with the Birds of Prey

  62. Posted too quick, and yeah that's what I was thinking too but who can we add to ours that would help our story? I mean I'd assume if Dick wasn't Jack's God father Connor would definitely be next in line right?

  63. See, I'd love to see the Sirens go up against Hush, he has ready-made heat with Catwoman, but with Hush possibly being Black Mask, I doubt we'll be seeing that any time soon...

Yeah I could see SB being "Uncle" Connor or something like that to Tim's kid. I'd def have a quickie arc(maybe only 3 issues or so)where Jack meets up with the JLA and joins them on some kind of adventure. Now the thing is, what's the JLA line-up look like 15-20 years from now...

  64. I'd also love to see the Sirens go up against Hush, hell didn't they kinda do that already when he had Harley?

Hm... I'd say the new trinity of course, probably Kyle as the main GL again, Speedy maybe? You're right it's kinda hard to figure out who'd be in the JLA then. Maybe Ravager? Static?
